Mattel Disney The Little Mermaid Vanessa Fashion Doll in Signature Purple Dress, Toys Inspired by The Movie

The face sculpt is a brand new one in the likeness of Jessica Alexander. She is absolutely beautiful! My photo depicts her hair AFTER I restyled it(the hair out of the box was atrocious). She has a dark brown saran that falls to her waist. Vanessa’s dress is a beautiful dark purple color. The sleeves are hemmed, but the bottom of the skirt isn’t. The corset part is printed, which is slightly disappointing because it would’ve looked nicer if it was stitched. The print on mine isn’t centered properly. The skirt has two layers: a satin-like material and an over-layer of tulle. The sleeves are delightfully large. The shoes are simple black heels. Her shell necklace is simple but accurate to the movie. It has a black “chain” and a gold shell. This doll has the basic 5 points of articulation: head, shoulders, and hips. Great doll for a low price! She's absolutely stunning!!!

This doll is absolutely gorgeous and even prettier in person! I think Mattel did an amazing job on the face sculpt. Looks just like Jessica Alexander, the actress who plays her in the movie. The doll has your basic 5 points of articulation (head, both shoulders, and both hips) and is slightly shorter than your average Barbie. Her long brown hair is super soft and has a slight curl to it, and her vibrant purple dress is made of a soft cotton fabric with tulle used for the puff sleeves and layered skirt. The dress is also all one piece and closes at the back with velcro. The corset, while having some nice stitched detailing, is painted on and does not continue around the back of the dress. For those interested in giving Vanessa a Made-to-Move body, the Purple Top is a good match for her skintone!

Pretty doll but sent it back anyway

I absolutely love this Vanessa doll! I was blown away by the attention to detail. Her outfit is elegant and well-made. The doll feels sturdy and well-crafted, perfect for collectors. Whether you're a fan of The Little Mermaid, a Disney collector, or just love well-designed dolls, Vanessa is a must-buy. I’m beyond happy with this purchase!

My original rating for this doll is 3 stars. Why? Her strange little body has awkward dimensions, her clothes don't fit on any other barbies and her feet are too big for regular shoes. Plus she has no articulation. Thankfully her skin tone is a match for the Made to Move tennis player (Asian sculpt). She got a body swap and now she's everything. This doll features a unique facial sculpt used only on this character. Her rooted saran hair is very long. It's quite bushy and wild but I tamed the hair with heat tool. I changed her lip color too, it was too red. In this photo she has her original lip color. I bought her with the intention of customizing. I wouldn't recommend this doll as is, she is frustrating to style and pose with no articulation.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: She's cute and slightly shorter than barbie. Took away one star because her wrists, elbows and knees don't bend. I changed her outfit and let her live in my 1:6 room box.

I actually haven't watched the movie, but this doll caught my attention because of how pretty she is and when she arrived I wasn't disappointed. She has pretty features and one of the main things I liked was the smaller scale of her face. The face size is comparable to the Barbie Looks series of dolls as opposed to the exaggerated features usually in play line like Fashionistas. She does have a little pixelation, the most noticable bit on the sides of her lips, but it's mild enough I can overlook. Hair was a bit kinked out of box but very soft and non-greasy. Her hair is a medium brown with some subtle lighter tones mixed in. As for the body, it is a petite frame with larger feet, even bigger than curvy size feet (I hear it's the size feet they made specifically for Disney dolls). Doll can be stood on it's own. I did find there were cracks/bad seams along both sides of the torso. Dress is well made, though part of it is made with tulle, so you just have to be a bit careful to avoid snagging, especially since it's tagged to the box when you first open it. The shell necklace is nice and the shoes are simple but cute black pumps. I read in the reviews that the Asian tennis player was a good match so I rebodied her to that and it is indeed a good match. Also in my opinion the head looks much more proportional on the MTM body. However, oddly enough, the reverse is not true. Not only does it look a bit comical with the tennis player head looking so big compared to the body, but the skin tone is noticeably different between the head and the body. For anyone wondering, Vanessa can still wear her dress in the new body, only her sleeves look a bit short. The shoes won't work though. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. You can also see in the photos how she looks after a clothes change and washing/conditioning/combing her hair.

La cara de esta muñeca está bárbara! Mas linda que cualquier otra muñeca de la linea, ni se diga de la mismísima “Ariel” (opinión independiente de la actriz Halle Bailey). La muñeca de Vanessa tiene un face sculpt precioso. El cuerpo esta horrible porque es playline sin articulación mas que la de los hombros, cuello y cadera. ¡Está completamente tiesa! Sus pies están enormes y ningún zapato de Barbie le quedan. Sus zapatos de tacón negros están muy bonitos, pero muy grandes y tampoco le quedan a ninguna otra muñeca. Así que también se desperdician. Realmente pagué por su preciosisima cabeza, su collar que me encanto y su vestido que también se salva, porque le queda a las Barbies. Tuve que comprar una mtm asiática de top morado para cambiarla de cuerpo. El tono de piel era el mas parecido disponible, sin embargo creo que sería un mejor match con la nueva tenista asiática mtm; esa muñeca es la que tiene el tono de piel más claro hasta ahorita. Por último, cuidado al sacarla de la caja. Viene asegurada con unos plásticos en la parte baja del vestido, son fáciles de pasar por alto y se puede romper el vestido.
