Works as designed, easy to set up and use! Simple machine yet good technology

First time purchasing one of these things. I needed to start testing. This one was very easy to use. It comes with a carrying case and all the stuff you need to get started. There are instructions and quick use guide for easy monitoring. I like it because it only comes on when the strip is inserted and turns off when you remove the strip so I don't have to worry about accidentally turning it on in the case and draining the battery.

I have to admit, this is the best, inexpensive glucometer I have shopped. Fast accurate readings, easy to use lancet and electronic reader. Just as good as the $100 jobs. NOT to say that the more expensive units are useless. I'm sure that there are those who need the features and accuracy of them, but for someone who is simply monitoring blood-sugar because they're "borderline" and need to develop a baseline, this is fine.

This German engineered blood glucose monitor kit gives readings consistent with the FreeStyle Lite kit that I have been using for a number of years. Testing is easy and the results are returned quickly. This kit includes a zippered storage case that keeps the device, test strips and lancet clean and protected when not in use. The main reason that I tried this device is that I am pre-diabetic. Medicare will only pay for test strips is I have a diabetic diagnosis. FreeStyle test strips cost $180 whereas this kit which included the equipment and 100 test strips was less than $27. This is a good quality alternative to the FreeStyle Lite and I highly recommend it.

The speed of results are very good. However... I got 4 different readings from the same blood sample (finger stick). These are my readings in order of testings -- 153, 132, 149, 126 mg%. The sample standard deviation of the numbers 153, 132, 149, and 126 is approximately 13.04. The average of the numbers 153, 132, 149, and 126 is 140. There is no USB or Bluetooth connection. Bottom line - the price is right with plenty test strips (4 stars).

Works great! Replaced another brand that was dropped. Similar glucose readings.

I was somewhat disappointed with the level of accuracy. Saving readings in memory could also be easier to accomplish. On the positive, setup for test reading is quite simple.
