Pentair Pentek 158110 Traditional Slim Line Filter Housing, 3/8" NPT #5 Under Sink Clear Water Filter Housing with Pressure Relief Button, 5-Inch, Blue

I installed two of these 1/2 size filters under my kitchen sink to filter rust and sediment from my galvanized piping. The particles were accumulating in the plastic filter screens in the faucet, and resulted in a ruined faucet because of the stripped fine gage plastic threads on the faucet aerator and faucet spout. I purchased a new faucet and decided to install two Pentek 3/8" 1/2-height filters in the supply lines to ensure the new faucet would last.. I also installed two ball valves ahead of the filters and purchased 2 brackets to mount the filters on the side of the cabinet. I chose the 3/8" filter housing over the standard 1/4" housing to minimize pressure loss. Two pieces of advice: Purchase a filter wrench and purchase a tube of silicone grease approved for contact with potable water...it'll make maintenance a lot easier. I also laid in a good supply of coarse polypropylene filters (they're cheap). The arrangement has worked wonderfully. Although the filter is not rated for hot water, the filter housing has worked well with 120 degree water. I have been pleased with the quality and performance of the product..

I purchased this about 3 years ago to pre-filter water for the humidifier on the furnace, as I was tired of dealing with a fouled up solenoid valve, screen and water panel so frequently. This turned out to be a great investment. It was incredible to see how much filth was pulled from the municipal water supply and has drastically improved the life of my Aprilaire components! Unless you connect via fittings directly to 1/2" or larger diameter copper line, I recommend the bracket. It's a bit flimsy but helps.

This case is very well built, solid material. However, this is a big issue with the pressure release button. It leaks!!!! I took the button out, found out the O-ring is poorly made. I replaced with a good one, every thing works now. So if you are not a handy man, or you don't have a small 3/8 O-ring at hand, you have to buy one to fix this issue.

Great for under sink

I switched my older solid brown colored canister with the clear bottom part of this newer model so I can see and visually monitor the accumulation of any sediment or debris inside. It fit and screwed on perfectly to my existing 10 year old set up under my sink ! Very solid and well made, glad I made the switch,I now feel more safe being able to see what I am drinking. Highly recommended ! Review edit - Its been several months with my new clear canister filter and have experienced a total failure with this product which includes a terrible flood costing me thousands in damage. I did not realize how much more fragile the clear type is compared to the solid colored type. A late night crack formed when everyone was sleeping and awoke to a total flood with seeping water thru the ceiling destroying my basement ! Beware of this product ,it could happen to you with no warning.

The good thing is the price. The second thing was way on time for delivery. Third thing the bottom housing fit my old head housing, I know it’s an update version because of the red push button and the water line fitting are smaller so I could not use the head part like I wanted to but like I say the bottom housing fit the old head housing and the filters are the same.

The first one lasted 22 years before the pressure release button started leaking, I probably could have replaced the O-ring in it but a new one was cheap enough to fix the problem. Very well made.
