Cheap and effective heat sink. I'm putting these on all M.2 SSDs now, no matter what I'm using them for, internally and externally. I did a big data transfer via USB-C to my NVE M.2 SSD and the copper heat sink became quite hot. Without the copper plate, all that heat would have remained in the chip. These are a great and very cheap way to get better performance and longer life from your SSD. For gaming I like another brand that encloses the entire SSD, but these are great for standard use laptops, desktops, and external drives. Unfortunately these didn't with in my Samsung GBP4, but did work very well for my pcie NVMe card and have kept things cool. The only weird thing is that they give with these weird strips that I have NO idea what they're used for. I wish they'd update the listing or include instructions for this added benefit
