Children's Book of Virtues

This book teaches my homeschooled kids a lot of difference virtues they need to possess. Every child should have one!!!

The words and the images are so well chosen. This is a lovely book for your child to grow up with. Thanks!!

Lovely collection of edifying wholesome stories.

Mind provoking and lots of inspiration

I picture any dad with his child sitting on his lap, arms round the child whilst holding the book and reading quietly to the child's ear. But what can he be reading that would be of any use to the child? This is the book to read and teach the child the virtues in a natural way. Later on, dad can read "The Book of Virtues" by the same author in order to have a solid store from which to draw things to talk about with his children in those years (the teens in particular) when dads "run out of things to say" and the conversations get embarrassingly silent. Well worth buying to have around and even buying again to replace the one we leant to a friend and did not come back.

It's a wonderful concept, just wish there was a modern version which included more stories of people of color, or gender equality. It was clear it was written/compiled by a very conservative American white male.

I love the illustrations in this book but the way the stories are written, I find it very outdated. For children who love myths, fables and fairy tales though, it might be a good book to read.

Beautiful book! The stories are virtue based. They are part of the classic literature adapted for children. Some stories are short poems and some are longer stories. The pictures are beautiful. This book is perfect for younger children when a parent reads to them and then later for children who can read on their own. With this book you can discuss virtues with your children. Under each virtue section, there are about 6 stories highlighting the virtue. Courage/Perseverance, Responsibility/Work/Self-Discipline, Compassion/Faith, Honesty/Loyalty/Frienship are the main virtues of this book. From the cover: this book is "an enduring treasury of literature and art that will help lead young minds toward what is noble and gentle and fine." I love this book and so do my children. A must have and must keep book! (Recommended for children 3 to 9, then move to the similar book, Book of Virtues for young people.)

love this book worth his price a must have for a library home

Considering it is second hand, the book is in good quality. The book itself is very good. It is a collection of stories and poems with varying length, all with a lesson for character building. It has superb colourful illustrations.
