Emily Dickinson's Poems: As She Preserved Them

Overall comments: This book is a treasure trove of Emily Dickinson's poetry. I love that Miller kept to the original writings. She also includes side notes of alternative words that Emily contemplated using. This further expands our understanding and breathes more life into the literature. I do not like when editors change and alter a writer's original script. Miller has certainly aimed to recapture the raw, authentic text. Jacket: Some other reviews state they did not receive the black jacket with artwork as pictured. For me, this was not the case. I am delighted to have received the exact jacket as advertised. I love the design. Dimensions: The book is quite large. I was originally going to take this with me on my morning commute, but it is not practical for transit reading. This is an at-home read that demands the time and attention it rightly deserves.

Emily Dickinson is my favourite poet. She deals with the subconscious, death, ilness, etc - all the big issues in life which we will all experience. Some of her material is funny, unusual - here she is talking about Death who in this poem she sees an an entity. Because I could Not Stop for Death- He Kindly Stopped for me. Note the word KINDLY She uses unusual and powerful language, and she is concerned with the human condition. Powerful,thought provoking, uplifting

Great book. Emily Dickison is one of my all time favourite poets it's fantastic to be able to read many of her poems in origonal form that I have never seen published before . It will take a long time to get through but a must for Emily fans.

A beautiful book. But I thought I was buying a slim volume of poetry. It’s actually as big as a bible. Who knew Emily Dickinson wrote so much!

Amazing book very heavy and brilliant poems! Only downfall is the book wasn’t packed very well so the corners arrived a bit damaged and bent maybe next time use bubble wrap and put it in a cardboard box instead of just a paper bag ? But above all superb poetry !
