This bottle came wrapped in bubble wrap, no box, no pamphlet, just the product. While I like as little as possible cardboard and paper packaging I would like more info and definitely better instructions for a product containing retinol. The print on the bottle label is so tiny that even with reading glasses I had difficulty finding info. The retinol content of 3% is only stated in the French info, the English talks only about plumping and smoothing skin. 3% is quite strong and if you have never used it before Retinol can be quite irritating. The manufacturer definitely needs to give some advice on how often, how much, if you should mix it and whether to avoid the sun. There is nothing … I have used it only for 4 days, so I cannot say anything about the effectiveness of the product. Looking at the current price tag of $45 I would not buy it without any info on how to use and what to avoid.

I've used a lot of retinol and retinoid products, so my skin is accustomed to them. Still, when I first used this French Pharmacy RetRx 314 (3%) I found it to be drying. I opted to follow with a more intense moisturizer as well as do two days of use, one day of "rest" for a while. My skin tolerated this fine for daily use in a couple of weeks. I do find that this makes my skin look "fresher" and it has an overall healthier look. As of yet, I don't see a noticeable decrease in fine lines and wrinkles. However, since I've been using retinol products for at least a year already, I didn't really expect to see a huge difference from a new brand (even though it is stronger). I do find that this works better than some brands that I've tried. I like that it's a liquid rather than a cream because I feel that I use less that way. However, if I put it on when my skin is completely dry and bare, I find that it soaks in before I can spread it well. If I use a hyaluronic acid serum first, wait a minute or so, and then apply this I can spread it well. Also, the bottle says "apply to clean skin in the morning, follow with moisturizer". Half way down the product listing page, however, it says "regenerates skin overnight", so it seems to be giving mixed messages about when to apply. I never use my retinol in the morning, and I always use sunscreen the next morning after using retinol at night. I didn't see anywhere on this product that says that retinol makes you more sensitive to the sun, but it does. Be mindful of that, and use a good daily spf product. If you've never used a retinol, this may be a little strong to start with. And my understanding with retinol is that generally speaking, the darker your skin the more sensitive it will be to retinol. There's tons of great information online about using retinol and the difference between retinol and retinoid. It's worth reading to save yourself from sensitive, dry, irritated skin. But building a tolerance to retinol/retinoid really is worth it. It definitely has huge benefits.

I love this retinol product! It’s a small but mighty and is at a reasonable price point in comparison to other retinol products at this price point. My skin feels soft, smooth, and moisturized after each use. It’s very effective, my acne is clearing away as the days go by. Last but not least, it’s scent free!

I've tried lots of retinols, but this is by far the best. Results are easily seen in a short time.
