Glow EZ Lock Collapsible White Beauty Dish (42")

The hallmark of a good beauty dish is its ability to provide light that's direct enough that you still get shadows and cheekbones and definition and contrast, but large enough that it offers some softness around those shadows. People will shoot with silver-lined or white-lined beauty dishes, with a diffuser in the front or just a bare reflector, and with or without a grid. The flexibility of a good beauty dish, and knowing how to configure and point your beauty dish is key for portraiture. At first glance, you might mistake this for an octabox based on its size, but it's got twice as many points, a more C-shaped housing, and a reflector dish right in front of the light mount, making it act more like a very big beauty dish. Put to the test, light output was very even across the surface, which is what I like to see. After the metal reflector dish, there's another layer of diffusion fabric held in place by snaps, and after that is the outer layer of diffusion fabric. Suffice to say, by the time your light escapes this light, it's gone through quite a few detours, resulting in light that doesn't look like it came out of a studio light. It's just beautiful, high-quality light. You get a lot for the price here. There's a carrying case that actually looks like it might hold up for a few years, the aforementioned diffusion fabrics, reflector dish, the unit itself, and an eggcrate grid for the front. Other manufacturers would charge you for each one of these features, but you get to start with everything right from the go, and that's nice. Setup is very fast. You can leave the inner, and even outer diffusion fabric in place while you unzip the side and press the unlock button. Just watch your hand, there's quite a bit of tension going on there. You can go from packed up to set up in 10-15 seconds, and vice versa in maybe a few seconds more, because you'll want to pack the fabric up safely. No screws, velcro, or putting rods in pockets. It's a really nice design, and it locks in place until you press that button and free the two halves. I'm thoroughly impressed with the design and quality of this light, and will be looking to buy more as opportunities present themselves.

I LOVE THIS THING! It deflects the light so well and is perfect for portrait photography. It seems very sturdy after 2 months of normal use. It does tend to be a bit tricky to pop open, as it is a bigger diffuser (im 5'7). but i can put it together on my own... within 5 minutes haha! Overall im very happy with this dish!

This replaced a much more expensive brand and enjoy the quality of this and the light it gives me for headshots. Even soft light. A great deal for the money. I just wished they had a 36 inch and not a 34 inch.

Best light modifier for the money! It's very solid, and even a bit heavy overall. It is well made. Beautiful light. Comes with all of the attachments that you will ever need. Rated a buy. I own this, and bought it with my own money.

Is big and I love it -thats what the model said - The light in conjunction with gels make the light of the umbrella so soft that you can perceived in post production. Super easy to put together and does not take to much space on the studio, but once that you assemble it be sure to be in a big room ;)
