Great Sound!
Great sub! Easy install and the quality is there. The 10’ sub gives a great thump and fills the lower end nicely. It won’t rattle windows but the sound is clear and crisp. It does not sound distorted. The enclosure is compact, sturdy and fits under my seat. I will say that sitting in different areas of the car change the fullness of the sound. I have it under my driver seat and it sounds great but when I sit in the passenger rear seat, I don’t hear the bass as profound as I do when I’m sitting in the driver seat. Overall, I would highly recommend it. Especially for the price compared to some of the other products on here. I used a Boss 8gauge amp wire kit for my install and works perfect. Maybe a 4gauge would be preferred to prevent any overheating but an 8 is good enough. Oxygen Free cables would be the go to but I cheaped out. If you’re on the fence about it let me give you the nudge to get it! I think it’s great and worth the 100$ for an inclusive compact sub. DO IT!!!

Great Sound Quality
Replaced my crappy boss stereo and speakers in my car with Pioneer and Kicker so when it came time to get a powered sub I was hesitant to go with a budget brand. I believe that you usually get what you pay for but it was hard to justify more that twice the price for a brand like JBL so I took a chance on the Rockville 8" unit. I'm super happy with the results! I'm not trying to blow my doors off with bass, I'm just wanted something to fill in the low end that was missing with my 5.25" Kickers. This powered sub is fit the bill perfectly. It was easy to install and is so small it actually fits under the seat of my 74 VW beetle. The sound quality is great and it blends really well with the rest of my system. 10/10 recommend.

Temper your expectations
It's ok. I placed my powered sub in the back of my Prius, I can hear it but not anything crazy. Decent mids, probably like 80hz but definitely not getting anything 50hz or lower. Was hoping for something a bit louder and lower in the Hz range. Definitely nothing close to 800W, not even sure why the packaging uses that number. I even doubt the 200W RMS rating. Sounds like something closer to 100W. Pros: Small footprint, could fit under my seat Adds some mid bass Bass knob works and is pretty nice Value is pretty decent, especially compared to the price of other name brands You are not going to go deaf lol Cons: Not loud, it reaches its peak at about 50% of my volume, speakers overwhelm it and hard to hear when car is moving with wind noise. Nowhere close to sounding like 800W peak. If you are just looking for a bit of bass, this is not a bad starting point. If you are looking for deeper bass, definitely not for you. This will likely be enough for like 80% of the population.

Very Nice Sub for the Price... Added a second 1! Update # 4
This Sub (not really a Sub but whatever you want to call it) is very nice for the price IF you have a factory stereo or an aftermarket stereo with no amps connected..But you shouldnt expect this thing to play real loud..I got it hoping it would be a little louder for my system..have a 100x4 amp with Alpine 6x9s and 6.5 door components,,at low to moderate sound it is fine almost perfect but if you have a loud system when you play it loud this speaker will got overpowered . And thats with the gain at max and the bass boost at near max. I placed it behind driver seat in a 04 Grand Prix...under the seat I felt it didnt sound as good..I doubt I will keep it in my current set up but will probably keep it for the second car since the freight to return it would be to much to merit returning it. I give it 5 stars for the price and performance on non amped stereos and 3 stars for How much I like it in my system If you have a non high powered stereo and you wont put it in the trunk (you cant tell its there in a trunk) then for the price I think you will love it. UPDATE::: Ok I have had this sub for about 7 months and have had hooked up 3 different ways..( all we're with my above mentioned speakers and amp)) FIRST.was connected to factory radio which is what my review was made..then SECOND OFF I installed a Sony deck and it made the sub sound a noticeabley better and was little more impressed with the sub..THIRD OFF I went back to my factory deck but installed a Clarion EQS755 equalizer and OMG what a difference unreal how much bass this Sub puts out now! I even had to turn the Sub gain down to 1/2 way ( I had it at 3/4 before EQ)and again it sounds unreal for a 8" Sub (again I have it behind front seat on rear seat floorboard)BUT for some reason it kept cutting off with the Clarion don't know why so I am back to having it connected to the Sony Deck and I will say even when I have it up very loud you do notice it and t makes a difference ( when I turn it off with the deck you see what a difference it makes.) Through all my connections I would say a aftermarket deck will make the most difference as compared to a factory deck ( it got drowned out easier with the factory deck) I don't listen to rap or hip hop mostly hard rock / rock .. if you listen to rap and hip hop I doubt you will be as impressed as it struggles with super low bass ( but it's a 8" sub so I doubt anyone would think it would rock with rap or hip hop) If it lasts its an absolute steal now! I now give it 5 stars! UPDATE #2…........ I know have 2 of these installed in my car 1 behind driver seat and 1 behind passenger seat and adding the second one made a big difference ( no duh! Right?) And with adding the second one the subs never get "drowned out" by my amped speakers and at times it's to much bass to be honest but loving this lil sub big time! No it's not "audiophile" quality and it doesn't hit like two 10s or 12's but with the subs on the floorboard I don't have that God awfull trunk rattle sound on the outside that I have had in the past when I had subs in the trunk (not to mention I can use all of my trunk without a huge sub box in it) my rear view mirror vibrates like crazy at times ( it vibrated when I had just the 1 also) but no it won't vibrate your side view mirrors in case you were curious...people have gotten in my car I asked what subs I had in the trunk ( they didn't notice I had 2 of these on the rear floorboards). I know most people don't plan on getting 2 of these (again 1 will be noticeable) but if your thinking of getting 2 or adding another one to your excisting sub.. Do it! Also I don't currently bus the amp gain dash knob but since my decks sub volume adjustment seems to be all or nothing I plan to add the knob but will wire both subs to 1 gain knob.. UPDATE#3 Thought I would make another update since I am sure some people (and some reviews) have had problems with it lasting..Well I am at almost 2 years (1st one was installed Aug/2018 2nd one Dec/2018) and I have never had a problem with either on although when I had just the 1 and I was driving for over an hour with stereo cranked it id go into protective mode 1 time... But other than that they work perfect and sound great (for the price and knowing these arent going to be heard blocks away...But again I have a 100watt rms Pioneer GM-D8704 powering rear JBL 6x9s and front JBL 6.5 compoents and both subs are more than enough to keep up and at times sounds like I have 10s ..Just 1 had a lil harder time keeping up and at times got overpowered but that never happens with 2 unless I want to make my ears bleed. UPDATE #4 May 2025---- I still had both of these and they both still work after getting years of use, dont have a car to put them in since I recently got rid of my 2016 Ford Fusion Titanium W/Sony stereo ... man did I get moneys worth out of them!!

When bass is good (loud enough at sane levels) and affordable!
This is an excellent, inexpensive, solution for adding bass to a unpowered or low powered car audio system. The bass is a welcomed addition to the listening experience. If you're looking to flex the vehicles' windows with bass, forget this product. I find it to be "just right" for listening to music at sane levels while driving. Rockville has provided a feature rich product for a very reasonable amount of money. It sounds great and fills in the bass nicely. Two thumbs up and highly recommended.

Budget friendly
It's really good for it's price. Easy installation. It's better than a previous powerd subwoofer that I replaced with this unit. Installed on a second gen Nissan frontier it fills the cab very well. Good sound quality. It's good on those low frequency bass. It really shines on those mild bass

10" Sub..Sounds Great!! If adjusted properly.
Firstly, I used 4 gauge wire for the power and ground on this unit. I could have used 8 gauge but i didn't want any possibility of voltage drop or heat to be generated. Also, since my 2013 Kia Optima stock radio had no RCA hookups in the back, I installed a "Kicker 46KISLOC2 Speaker Wire-to-RCA Line-Out Converter w/LOC+12v Turn on Lead" to make the install easier, although the package does include connections for a radio with no RCA output. I ran an aftermarket wiring kit's supplied speaker wire (I mention which kit in a moment) all the way to under my seat to connect to the RCA Converter because in case a set of RCA cables go bad, it's easier to replace instead of taking the radio back out. Plus, the distance from plugging the RCA's from the Converter to the amp was a matter of inches. To connect to the factory speaker wiring, I used Scotchloks and tapped into the rear speaker wires. I bought the wiring kit with everything needed, including speaker wire, power wire, connections and RCA cables. "DS18 AK4 Complete 4 Gauge CCA Amplifier Installation Wiring Kit" Once everything was connected, I turned it on and immediate noticed the bass volume increase. The Subwoofer seemed to be distorted at low volume and I was unimpressed initially. I then took the time to set my "LPF" low pass frequency cutoff to as high as it would go..(I wanted the highest frequencies to be audible through the sub initially and it ended up being a good choice for my install. I've since adjusted the LPF to about 120hz. All reproduced frequencies sounded clear. The LPF is tunable from 40hz - 150hz max.) My gain is set to about 1/4 of the way up (3-4db) to match my stock components volume at near max volume. Bass Boost is something that made a big difference. Too much and it "farts". I set mine to a little less than half way. Also, I played with the phase button. Acoustically in my car, 180° activated seemed to make a big difference. Let me tell you..I am thoroughly impressed with the volume and sound of the Sub. I play every music style you can imagine from 90's hip hop, to Hard Rock, 80's, Jazz, Reggae, Metal and Classical. I spent a lot of time FINE tuning the "built in" amp and Small adjustments go a long way. Take your time and make those adjustments and you will be very happy. Just to note, I'm in my mid 40's and grew up installing stereo systems in my own jeeps, friends cars and trucks too. I have had systems with Orion XTR DVC 12" subs in a bandpass box to my most recent (2) 12" JL AUDIO 12w3 d4s in a ported box with Kenwood Excelon component speakers. No, this doesn't sound like those. It might not make your rear view mirror rattle but I didn't want that. Don't get me wrong, it is Loud but I simply wanted good bass in a small package to retain my trunk space. This Subwoofer far surpassed my expectations, especially since some of the reviews were so poor. Also, I installed it under my passenger seat "sideways" meaning the long way going left to right..connections facing the drivers seat, since it wouldn't fit under the driver side due to the electric motor. Again, i placed the amp sideways without any brackets and it stays put just fine. My only complaint is that the sub does not reproduce extremely low frequencies. If I had to guess, I would say 50hz and below..not a big deal. To me, this speaker sounds just as good as a quality (not top tier though) 10" Subwoofer installed in a sealed box with a dedicated amp. BTW, the way that I tuned this amp was with the supplied "remote" gain knob turned all the way up. This way I would know the max level before distortion and could manage my small adjustments from there. Installation, including removal of my factory radio took about 2.5 - 3 hours. Don't forget to take your time to tune it with small adjustments. Would buy again.

Overall Good Subwoofer to fill in mid-bass
I have a 1993 Saturn SL1 and I have been trying to get adequate bass in the car. For one the car is not very sound proof, you can hear all the road noise, bumps and what not's. The trunk for some reason has very good sound proofing, so it is hard to pass bass from the trunk to the passenger compartment. My set up is fairly simple, I have 2 Crunch PA1400.2 running front and rear, I have a JBL 400w RMS running Rockford Fosgate Prime Dual 10" Sub Box in the trunk. The issue is I can get the thump, but I am missing the mid to mid-bass in the passenger compartment. Since I do not want to cut holes in the rear door to mount additional speakers I found this and thought maybe this will work. I mounted it on the rear parcel shelf right in between the 2 rear speakers. I set the trunk Rockford Fosgate Prime Dual 10 crossover to run from dc to 90 HZ and set the Rockville SS8P 400w 8" Slim crossover to run from 90 HZ to 125 HZ and set the High-pass filter on the front and rear to cut off at 100 HZ. Now you want to talk about bass, this fills in great as a mid to mid-base speaker. I get mid to mid-base fill-in in the passenger compartment and I get the punch and hard hitting base from my subs in the trunk. The product has good built quality, it was easy to install even though i did not install under my seat (as it would not fit) I did call the MFG to find out if mounting it on the parcel shelf with it exposed to direct sunlight would be an issue and they said no it would not as it would have ample air flow, and direct sunlight on the top would not affect the electronics. The manual is straight forward, basically 3 wires, Positive (red), Ground (black) and remote turn on (blue), and RCA plugs. I just wired it into my distribution block, placed on the parcel shelf with adhesive and i was done, did not use the remote control as my deck has that feature built in. I know that my installation may not be standard, or I may not be using the product as designed a "SUBWOOFER" but as a mid to mid-base driver it delivers good solid reproduction in those ranges ( 90 HZ to 125 HZ), no distortion, no rattle in the cone, good disbursement of frequencies. This product did what I wanted it to do was fill in the mid to mid-base range. If you read my review please understand that I am not using this as a "SUBWOOFER", I cannot tell you how it preforms in that aspect, but I can tell you this is a solid product, has good build quality, has good sound ( in reference to my application of the product), has good customer and Technical Support Services, and for only $100 or so a good value.
