The best book on the House of Worth
I am thrilled by this book. I own several books on the House of Worth, but all the others were somewhat lacking. This book is just what I'd wanted. Fabulous photos in colour and lots of them. Whole outfits plus details. Over 300 pages. Fantastic detail on the house of Worth. This book is expensive but far and away the best on the subject. I was lucky and managed to order a damaged copy at reduced price. The book was unread and perfect except for a creased cover.

Wonderfully Illustrated Book
One of the best costume/fashion Book I’ve ever purchased. All the photos & illustrations are so clear you can see all the seams & detail of the construction of the garments. Takes you a time of luxurious fashion for the elite. Wonderful. A must for lovers of costume & fashion as well as fashion students.

One of the best books on Worth I’ve read
Fascinating insight into the birth of haute couture and the man who created such gorgeous confections. Details everything from clients to materials and provided a breakdown of each of the Worth men and their distinctive house styles! Amazing!!!

A book worthy of the genius that was Charles Frederick Worth ( and Sons)
A beautiful book and worth every penny. It's a quite sumptious, large, very well researched, beautifully illustrated book with stunning, clear, detailed colour photographs of some of the most wonderful dresses ever made. An absolute must for anyone interested in costume for film, theatre or fashion.

I love this book I brought on my fav designers of all time Charles Worth and the House of Worth. He was a rule breaker and changed what we call haute couture forever. The book has lots of beautiful photos of their designs along with the history of the House Of Worth from its humble beginnings till the time the business closed. It’s my fav coffee table book!

I like reading about the ladies of The Gilded Age and after reading that they would make a trip to Europe to order their Worth dresses I wanted a book to see what these beautiful dresses looked like. Beautiful colour pictures. Have many Thames and Hudson books and am never disappointed by the quality of these publications. Wow.

I love the full page photos in this book and the amount of dresses shown boggles the mind. This book could keep the most enthusiastic costumer busy for hours at a time. Each dress is a work of art and the history behind them, who wore them and when, adds even more intrigue. The only negatives I would have for this book would be that it doesn't include some House of Worth dresses that I was hoping to see, although no book could hold the full catalog produced by this famous couture house. I was thrilled that Lady Curzon's peacock dress and the Lily dress (loved by youtuber Bernadette Banner) were both in the book. A dress I would have liked to see would be the Ironwork dress (recreated by Cynthia Settje of Redthreaded) or the green imperial Russian court dress made for Princess Maria Maximilianova Romanovskya (Although that dress is currently held by the Indianapolis Museum of Art so maybe it was harder to access). I would recommend this book to any costumer, couture enthusiast, or fashion history buff.
