Penn Fierce IV Spinning Reel and Fishing Rod Combo

I recently retired and relocated to Chesapeake, Virginia. In an effort to remain busy I decided to take up fishing. I had done some fishing in my youth with my best friend on Long Island, NY but that was over 30 years ago. A buddy of mine was excited that I choose to reignite this once enjoyed past time so much, he lent me a rod and reel and gave me an old tackle box to get started. I started researching combination rod and reels and PENN had their Fierce IV rod ( medium to high action) and reel at such an affordable price I had to purchase it for my primary rig. It wasn’t difficult to spool on 30lbs braided line myself. The rod is not as lightweight as other rods I had owned in the past but I would say that this rod is superior in build quality. The reel is amazingly well made and makes casting out a line real easy. I have used this rod and reel only twice since my purchase but I am looking forward to going out with my buddy on a quiet body of fresh water to land my next big catch. I am sure there are much more seasoned anglers that own top of the line rigs, but for someone like me whom isn’t a true beginner, but no where as seasoned .. this PENN Fierce IV combo med- high rig is perfect for largemouth bass. If you’re a novice fisherman like me, or if you’re looking for a well made affordable spare rig, this should be in consideration. Q

Greate rod/reel combo for the price. I have several Penn Pursuit and now this Fierce setup. Like it just as much as my Pursuit gear. For me, this is great value. Lot of “so called Pro Fishermen” will tell you that these models are junk or not worth buying, but I fish every weekend in saltwater going ~15 miles offshore in the North East Atlantic. Two of my Pursuit reels I’ve had for over 5 years and never had any issues. Fish all day, thoroughly rinse with fresh water when done, and let dry. No issues. I don’t see the need to spend +$500 on a rod/reel, but I’m not a “so called Pro Fishermen”.

I ordered two of these. They were shipped in a long slender box that was not sealed up good enough. the tips of both rods were sticking out through the end of the box. The tip of one was broken off. I submitted a request for a refund. It was immediately approved. Then I did not send it back (too much of a hassle) I repaired the tip and all is good. Still makes me feel a little ripped off. Great Product. I have caught some large Drum, Bluefish and Flounder with both sets. Very dependable PENN product.

Picked up two of these for a coastal pier fishing trip and couldn't be happier. Smooth action on the reel and.nice feel when casting

Great rod and reel. Reason for 4 star is it was delivered damaged. The bail was not round looked like someone stepped on it and sent it back. I just didn’t see it till I went to rig it. So I fixed it myself.

I am very pleased with the Penn Fierce combo. It is a great bang for the buck . It feels and casts like a much more expensive combo.

It's a great value for a 7-ft rod & reel combination. It's my favorite color (RED) so there's that. It's quality is superior to rods at twice the price in my experience. To my experience, I have been fishing 55+years and counting in both salt and fresh. I both bait cast and fly-fish. I also tie my own flies and build fly fishing rods. With all of that.... here are my thoughts on this PENN Fishing FRCIII3000LE701ML Fierce III LE Spinning Combo, 3000 sz 5 BRG, Red, Black, 300... rod & reel. Also I am a 5-ft, 1-inch tall woman so you don't need to be tall or male to use this set up. I recommend this Penn rod & reel combo for those needing: + lightweight so one can fish all day and it doesn't kill your arm from casting + the seal bearings in the reel are excellent for salt water fishing + very sensitive so it's fast action which means I feel every bite so I am catching more fish with it than I do with other rods ( I own 15+ active rods and I build rods for fly fishing so I know rods) + for beginners to experts + seeking VALUE - great price I don't recommend it for: - kids - it's 7-ft long so too long for small kids - Left handed people who are unfamiliar with the tedious and challenging efforts to swap the default Right handed handle setup to a Left handed configuration [ I am left handed and had to do it - it is a royal PIA! ]

La caña venía dañada se supone que la caña mide 7 pies (2.14mts) pero la caña media 1.94mts, le cortaron la última parte de la caña para que cupiera en el empaque, por ese motivo es que devolví el producto, y pues estoy en espera de la devolución de lo que pague por el equipo, y así poder hacer otra compra.
