The taps were bought to cut threads in an aluminium chainsaw cylinderhead, so not too taxing, and I noted that the Plug tap (the one used last to cut the thread to the very bottom of the hole) was not able to do so, as it still had a pointed end, stopping the tap bottoming in the hole. However, in my case, the holes were deep enough that this was not a problem. The threads cut were clean and true and I would buy this make of tap again, though I might grind the end of the plug tap flat in future. These taps also have the massive bonus of not being imported from China or made of Chinese steel, which is univerally poor (Unless Rennie imported and rebadged them?)

I used the 6mm tap on stainless steel 10mm flat bar, with care the set worked well.

This item is not up to the task. The items broke under normal usage conditions. The metal they are made of is inadequate for the purpose.

Bought to tap 24 holes on narrowboat roof for solar installation (4mm mild steel) - used 6.7mm drill, WD40 as lubricant and worked really well

Three standard M3 x 0.5mm pitch thread HSS (High Speed Steel) taps; first, second and third cut, ideal for mild steel and softer metals. Good quality, clean cutting.I needed four threaded holes to secure a quieter, filtered protective grille to a steel panel where I had removed a noisy array of punched holes from a fan aperture. These new sharp taps made it easy, and no nuts required so filter changes become easy.The plastic box is good, it keeps them safe from damage if rattling around in a drawer with other taps.Just watch out when tapping aluminium, and make sure to clean off any residue.
