Spear & Jackson 4516AZ Southern Counties Bill Hook

Bought this to replace my old faithful one that i've had for 35yrs and it broke ! First look out the box and its good. Had to resharpen it to get rid of the grinder sharpened factory edge and do it with a file and stone . Now you can shave with it ! Real quality metal,as expected from Spear & Jackson,that holds its edge while working. Perfect balance and weight and lays hedge to perfection. A joy to use. Wasn't looking forwards to getting a new one as they never feel the same but pleasntly suprised how well it fits my hand and replaces my old one . IDEAL

nicely balanced and weighted does need a good sharpen before use to get the best out of the tool but not at all unusual for this type of tool. I like it and find it good value for money

Not very sharp on delivery, but put it to use on brush clearance straight away and it wanged small branches off effortlessly. I may sharpen it a little bit. Would have been nice to have a hanging loop or a hole to fit one.

Large but not very useful.

I've had cricket bats sharper than this. Trying to put a remotely decent edge on this has been a nightmare, partially due to the awful grind out of the bod and partially due to the pathetic heat treatment. The handle is also poorly shaped for human hands. Spear and Jackson used to make decent tools not any more.

Good old fashioned product. No frills. Excellent
