I still sleep awfully on planes but this is the best type I've found.The thing that keeps me from sleeping is head-nodding and I do not understand why U-shaped airplane pillows (the default ones that all passengers have) exist.I wish this were taller as I have to stack things between it and the tray table. The more I'm hunched, the more I swallow air and have to burp every 10 minutes.So this isn't perfect and I still sleep terribly on planes but it's pretty compact and it gives me the best shot at *some* sleep.Until something better is invented for head-nodders, this gets the top rating because it's the best I know of.By the way, the smell doesn't bother me because I don't remember it.There are many other brands clearly made from the same mold in the same factory but this is the one I've got so I can vouch for it.

I am someone who flies 60x a year and at 6'3" 225lbs I have a very difficult time getting comfortable in plane seats, much less comfortable enough to sleep/ I found this style of pillow years ago and it was a life changer, the only time I have ever been able to sleep and a flight. Unfortunately I started with lower quality pillows and they would only last at most 10 flights before developing a leak. This brand definitely feels sturdier and has held up better than previous ones getting 30-40 flights before needing to be replaced. For long flights I always bring a spare just in case. If you are someone that finds themselves in middle seats this pillow is critical as it allows you to comfortably lean forward and get some shoulder and elbow room.

Quality—- quality is great, smooth and durable.Convenience—- it is inflatable/deflatable. Easy to take along with you.Comfortability— I do not recommend this for air travels. Once it is inflated, it becomes bulky and gives no space between your chest and the plane’s seat screen especially if you have an economy ticket. I have a small body built and it gave me this inconvenience how much more for people who love beers and carbohydrates. Lol. I wish this product comes in different sizes. I am ditching this on my next flight and use my neck pillow instead.

This is more expensive than most of this type but it has been air tight and I have not smell any fumes which makes it superoir to thos cheaper ones I saw reviewed.It has no instructions so here is tip. It has a black and clear part. Pu tth eblacl part in the oinflation hole before you try to inflate it. This is valve to make it much easier to inflate. Teh clear stop goes over that to make a good seal.I have used it twice in long flights. It worked better than anything I have tried before but I did not get much sleep with it. It is a bit short for me an even with airline supplied pillow and blanket between it and the tray table I could use more height. I will probably buy a ring neck pillow to add to it for my next long haul red-eye.It comes with two pair of ear plugs and a blindfold. The ear plugs did nothing for me but the pillow as compatible with my over ear noise cancelling headphones which work well for me.In its bag it's bulky but I was able to attach it to straps on my carry on pack so it rides outside.

Excellent and affordable

I bought this for a trip to Paris from the Midwestern US. When I received it priced at how big it is. Considering all I was taking was a backpack I was concerned. Based upon the reviews I was optimistic that I would get some slumber. It was horrible! I slept 30 minutes on the flight, and I think that was out of exhaustion of trying to find a comfortable position. I tried with it, resting on the tray table and on my lap and on my side. Could not find any way to get comfortable.

I've never been able to sleep on a plane, and after seeing someone else on a flight with one over Thanksgiving, I decided to pick this inflatable pillow up for a flight over Christmas. For the first time ever I was actually able to get comfortable and fall asleep for longer then 2 seconds. It packs down small and for the price it was worth giving it a try and I'm very glad I did. If you're on the fence about buying this, you won't be disappointed. I wish I would have tried one of these sooner!
