A simple concept, executed well.
Neat unit, you select the number of cells by a solder blob across labelled pads.Only works for the specified chemistry of lithium battery.Power for the LEDs is taken down the same cable as the voltage sense, so keep the cable short and use low-voltage-drop connectors to avoid errors.

Does not explain connections correctly
On the info it says S1 = 1battery S3 = 3 Batteries ?SO I have 5 in a row (AA 6.0V 800mAh Rechargeable) although 5 x 1.5 +7.5 volts and when i check on a volt meter i get 7.5 volts ? BUT when S5 is connected at rear of unit it shows red only to charge. When i connect S2 it shows 2-3 blue bars (and 7.2volts on meter) all other connection just show red (to charge) now see pic from a web site ?SO how can it show all 5 bars to show 100% full ...it can't ???

Fails after first use
I have used the battery tester in 7S mode after soldering the pads marked S7 together, I ran power up on my Bench PSU and the red light came on at about 4V then the green lights started to come on at about 24V to about 29V when it showed full.I tested my battery pack and it was at 29V, when I connected the battery tester it flashed and then failed. I tested 3 more from the pack and each one failed either when disconnected from the bench PSU or when attached to the battery pack.I have checked the instructions online and I think I am doing everything right but they keep on failing.

Keep failing on 6s
All have failed after a few minutes. This is particularly annoying when you check it works then put into a case and it fails. I think it is a diode that burns out

LED's do not come on.
Tried bridging the 1S, 2S, and 4S individually and no LED's come on when plugged into a fully charged 4.8V battery.
