Great product for easy insect keeping and dispensing
This is a great and very useful item for anybody with a pet that needs to be fed insects, particularly crickets. I use the large size it makes emptying out the plastic containers insects typically come packaged in the shops and also means that I can place plenty of fresh food for the crickets so they are gut-loaded before they are fed to my gecko. I tend not to use the trays supplied as I prefer to use fresh fruit and vegetables to feed the crickets but they are good for dried food, water gel or the sponge can be used if you need to use water but I found it tricky getting these out again when there were still crickets in the tank; you could maybe attach strings or something to pull them up to make it easy. The tank is easy to clean with few parts for muck to get stuck in but the tubes are best cleaned out using a bottle brush. I've had very few problems using this, the tubes are ideal particularly when you are adding a calcium or vitamin powder to your pet's food as all you do is shake a few of the insects out of the tube, into a plastic bag and add the powder and shake the bag out into your pet's tank. I don't remove the clear cap ends as I see no need to and there are no replacements if I lost or broke any of them if I were to remove them. Overall, this is great for people who have pets who need insects to eat but who prefer to keep the contact with the insects to a minimum and have few escapees!

Great for cricket colony
I’ve bought 2 because I am feeding a juvenile bearded dragon over 400 crickets a week. Will easily hold 250 in one of these containers. Also good for locusts although they will climb up the sides and the inside of the lid. The tubes are great as it is easier to take many insects out in one go at feeding time Easy to handle and easy to clean.

Love it :)
I actually prefer this keeper to any I have seen on the market. it's nice and big, four feeding tubes that you don't have to use all at once. the food and water dishes are a great touch too. the lid is easy to pop on and off and has a small top window you can open to dust the little critter's with which saved having to take the whole lid off. some people have complained about crickets dying too fast but I have found that spot checking every day is important. if one is dead, take it out straight away. I have found that less die this way. keep the food and water bowls refreshed every day and your crickets will last quite a bit longer. I have found that the best way to keep the crickets hydrated is to use Bug Gel. they don't drown and get all the water they need. (just throw the water sponges out, the crickets end up eating them anyways so not much point in using them really) Escaping cricket's, the bane of every lizard lovers life. I found an easy way around this problem. do this in the bath. the escapes are easy to see that way and you can usually catch them pretty fast. (it also helps to have a cat on hand but not everyone has one) it takes practice to get it right though so it won't be smooth sailing from the start :) All in all a good keeper I have found.

Escapee crickets!!
Works great for storing crickets and locusts for our leopard gecko! Great quality! Could be better with the tubes caps and should probably be a different colour rather than clear…. Hadn’t noticed one wasn’t on as it’s clear = 80 crickets escaped into our house 😂

Fit for purpose.
Easy to use to feed my chameleon. I don't like having to get too close to the crickets, but this is easy to simply remove a tube and shake the crickets into the tank at arms length. The crickets also tend to live longer n here compared to if they are left in their plastic containers. Easy to clean as the black tubes pull in half.

The great escape
Do NOT rely on this Exo Terra Small Cricket Pen if you value a quiet house without live feeder insects running loose! While the pen's size and vertical design seem clever for easy feeding, the build quality and lack of security are critically flawed. The lid does not securely fasten or latch, especially where the feeder tubes slide in, creating multiple escape routes that even small to medium crickets can easily exploit. Furthermore, the material around the feeding tubes is often flimsy and leaves tiny gaps. I spent more time hunting escaped crickets behind furniture than actually feeding my pet. This product is simply not escape-proof; save yourself the annoyance and buy a more secure, heavy-duty plastic container with a fine mesh lid.

Well designed and made - makes feeding our little Dragon easier.
This is a great product. I am please I bought this one of another popular brands. The big difference is a simple one....the direction the flaps open. This one has the hinges so the open into the Pen which means the instects cannot jump out. The other Pen you can get is hinged so it opens on the outside. Its nice and big and and I easily got 50 XL locust into it. All I need do is look down the tube through the clear caps and if there are any Insects in then you can tip some cricket powder in to coat the insect and then shake the critter into the Viverium. Highly recommended. The only niggle is the the hatch on the top is a little small so tipping in the Hoppers from a tub is tricky.

Too small
This is more like extra small so I'd order the larger size.

I own various sizes of Lee's Kricket Keepers and they don't even come close to the quality of this Exo Terra Cricket Pen. Both have the same identical removable ventilated lids with one major exception. Lee's feeder tubes slide into the TOP sides of the LID rather then the body of the Keeper / Pen like Exo's does. A BIG minus when removing the entire top off and handling three items / parts. Exo's tubes stay put, inside, leaving any Hobo cricks remaining inside the tube(s) with no way to escape. Another BIG difference between the two styles are the "Cricket (tubes) dispensers themselves, Lee's are round while the Exo's is square, which makes the EXO'S more stable all the way around and keeps pressure on the trays at their "bottoms" from moving out of place. Here are the BIG differences though: Lee's has these "Lame" round flaps that (suppose) to cover the tube opening when pulled out and almost all of the time they (the flaps) fall off! The Exo Terra Cricket Pen has a drop down "Flapper door" built into the the inside of the pen's sides NOT IN THE LID (like Lee's) that will never fail. Simply slide the tube out of the Exo Terra Cricket Pen and the flapper drops down very fast and automatically to prevent escapes and easily reopens when the tubes are reinserted. The Exo Includes both a cricket food tray, and a water tray, both with tapered steps for even the smallest "Pinheads" to scale, the "Lee's" does not provide any Gut Loading trays. EXO also included a black sponge to retain moisture in the water tray. Each tray slides in neatly on the opposite ends of the pen held in place by the (inserted) square tubes that keep the trays from sliding around. The trays can easily be removed for refilling and cleaning. A very nice touch! At the time of this review both where eligible for "Prime" with the Exo costing ONLY 22 CENTS MORE than the Lee's, it's easily worth even a few dollars more! Also the Exo has a nice shinny Black top cover and is manufactured with a thicker, higher quality plastic, than the Lee's. I'm going to purchase the Large Exo Cricket Pen next. P.S. I removed the sponge from the water tray and fill it with Fluker's Cricket Quencher

Holes are too big and crickets get out. Would not recommend. I would return it if I hadn’t used it yet😅

Love that it keeps the crickets contained as intended. The chute idea makes feeding time a breeze. Just be careful when trying to get crickets out as you can't see how many are about to fall out! Hahaha. My beardie got a huge dinner our first time using this.
