AcuRite 02016 Color Weather Station with Forecast/Temperature/Humidity, Black

Fantastic weather station. Sits nicely on my nightstand and isn’t too big or too small. I love that it gives me the moon phases date and time. At a glance I can see indoor/outdoor temp indoor/outdoor humidity as well as a graphic of what’s expected and barometric pressure. Compared to the weather apps on my phone it’s accurate. The display is bright and easy to read and set up is simple. The poor reviews about this unit’s display must be due to buyer error because it offers 3 brightness levels when plugged in. (super bright, medium bright and low bright) Mine is set on low bright and I can clearly see it from across the room plus it doesn’t bother me at night in a dark room. If the unit is powered by batteries the display has only one setting, very low bright, but that will conserve battery life. I really only put batteries in for battery backup. I enjoy this unit very much it’s sturdy a perfect size and the display is bright. I have no complaints.

We have another AcuRite Model 00425DI that displays outdoor and indoor temperatures that has been accurate with a good signal distance range. It has been very dependable over the years, has large 1-1/2" number displays that can be seen from a distance. The AcuRite 02016 Color Weather Station has good wireless transmission at 330 feet, weather resistance from rain/snow, simple to use and began working quickly when installing the rechargeable batteries. We like the illuminated color weather display that shows the forecast icons (needs a 14 learning period) and moon phase icon for tracking the lunar cycles. The outdoor temperature seems to be accurate compared to our other weather display that's hanging off the northside eave of our shed out of the sun. Best place for the sensor was 60' away in a small evergreen tree within, but on the north side down to protect it from the rays of the sunlight that would create higher temperatures than actual temperatures. Just wish the numbers were 1-1/2' instead of 1" and maybe the designers can design it into another display/upgrade. Were enjoying our Personalized AcuRite Weather Reporting with Self-Calibrating Forecasting so we can plan each day accordingly.

We had the previous version to this for several years but it finally died. So got the latest and love it. It is easier to read from a distance - colors help highlight inside vs outside temps. Other weather readings are very helpful also. Although there are cheaper ones, we do like this version. It sits tall and base is smaller than other weather stations, so doesn't use as much room on our counter.

THIS UNIT PRIMARILY OPERATES ON AC POWER NOT BATTERY. THE SCREEN IS ONLY MOMENTARY FOR COLOR. NOT ON ALL THE TIME YOU MUST PUSH A BUTTON TO GIVE THE SCREEN COLOR. DISAPPOINTED TO SAY THE LEAST WITH THE PRODUCT.

I've only had mine for 2 weeks. I like it a lot so far! It's working well and accurately. I'll be updating this review in a few months after I've had a chance to evaluate it more thoroughly. The reason I am writing this review so soon after purchase is that the product description is misleading, and I wanted to clear that up ASAP. Before I go on, I want to say I like the design! I think they designed it right! The way they did it looks nice and uses VERY little power, so even if you use it with batteries only as I do, it is expected to run a LONG time, and I'm guessing it really will. My problem is they describe it as a "color display". It is a colorFUL display, but not a "color display" (like my cell phone). Literally ALL the color you see is on a printed insert positioned behind the transparent LCD screen. The insert of course NEVER changes. The vast majority of the screen is always transparent. In those locations where the unit displays digits and such, the 'pixels' are either transparent or black. Of course you see the colored insert behind all the transparent parts of the screen. I want to say again this design makes sense! The color insert is a great way to make the unit look nice at a reasonable price, and allows the human eye to easily see and understand the different sections. It would be a waste of power and money to actually have a color display. This design works economically and well. I'm happy with my purchase and probably should have known at THIS price it couldn't possibly really be a "color display" like my cell phone.

Know indoor and outdoor temperature from the comfort of your home by viewing the nice, clear, crisp screen that displays the indoor and outdoor temperatures as well as the humidity. It can easily be viewed from several feet away. Easy set up and best of all, no wires! Just works on batteries.

Yes, I love it, but! I've read that the backlight causes the room temperature to read high, and, after using this for a few days, I think that it does. I have another, less expensive AcuRite monitor, which I'm testing this weather station against, and it does seem that the indoor temperature and humidity of this weather station are reading high. The only problem, is that I'm having a hard time finding a way to get an accurate room temperature, so I can't really be sure that this monitor isn't accurate. Along side my other monitor, the outside readings of the weather station seem to be fairly accurate. You can calibrate all of the readings (really simple to do), but, as I said, without knowing if and how much off this weather station is, I don't know whether I need to calibrate it. Anyway, except for that, and, of course, as almost everyone else has pointed out, the viewing angle is TERRIBLE, I will say that I really do like this weather station. The screen is bright (although you can dim it two "stops" down), and all the readings are well laid out and big and easy to read. I'd buy it again. Oh, I forgot, I did buy it again. I just ordered another one of these for my bedroom. So, yeah, I like it. :-)

It works great I only hope it lasts longer than the last one I had different name brand
