KitchenAid Universal Steamer Basket, 10-Inch, Stainless Steel

WOW, it works so well, is foldable and stores so easily! And this stainless steel steamer basket is very pretty also. Feeling much better about steaming my vegetables too - much more nutritious. I have found the KitchenAid brand to be very high quality (we have their refrigerator, range and microwave oven) and this fits right in with our expectation of beauty, longevity and practical daily use.

I have not complaints about this steam basket, it works great for a small amount of food. The quality is very good. I would buy again.

Sturdily made, and nicely designed. Finally I can throw away the stupid flimsy steamer I had that always falls apart when I wash it, and often dumps the steamed vegetables into the steaming water when I attempt to fish it out of the pot!

It works great and compact and flexible for the size of your pot. It does need opening instructions (just pull the “petals” open), and it’s also very sharp. I cut my wrist while cleaning it, the edges of the “petals” are as sharp as a razor.

Plastic Melts under high heat. Not sure the plastic is even necessary.

Fits well in larger pots. Cleans up easily.

Every time I use this the central stem comes undone and pulls off as I am trying to lift the basket out of the pan of boiling water. It’s like the screws holding it in place just easily come out. I screw them in as far as they will go but they both don’t catch at the end and seem a bit short. Not sure if it’s a universal problem or if I have a lemon but it’s actually dangerous to use. Have lost several batches of steamed vegetables and been splashed with hot water.

I cant use it as I cant get it to open out as per the picture on the webdite and the box. There are no instructions with the steamer.

I think this is a great tool to have. I love that one size can shape to all sorts of pots. I like that it has little feet to keep it above the level of the water, and small and compact. I would recommend anyone home cooks have this device.
