Best kitchen gadget going
This is by far one of the best kitchen gadgets that I have ever bought. the operation of the fryer is so simple, there is a big dial at the top that you set the temperature with and a timer dial to, you guessed it, time how long you want things to cook for. When the cook time has come to an end there is a satisfying 'ping' noise that reminds me of an egg timer going off. When the time runs out the fryer auto turns off meaning that even if you aren't there when it finishes cooking, it wont burn your food any longer as the heating system cuts out. My favourite things to do in the fryer are chips and chicken bits FROM FROZEN as you get a crispyness that you cant recreate compared to cooking in the oven. Even when chips are deep fried in oil they dont get as nice and crispy as cooking in this does. I would 11?10 recommend this to anyone that is thinking of getting an air fryer as they save so much time when wanting a quick meal of chips and chicken and whatever else you can think of!

Essential as a microwave
This purchase was a replacement. We gave our old black one, used daily since they came out, to our son moving into his first house with no appliances. It still works as well as it did just a slightly tatty basket from years of dish washing. Since we had one of these it is a perfect compliment to the oven and microwave and we no longer use a frying pan or deep fat fryer or grill. My cholesterol has reduced and I don't need statins at 70 y.o. and I put it down partly to this great novel appliance. I would add that I like the grey colour better seems to make it look smaller too.

Not a 'fryer', it's far more versatile than that...
I think that the negative reviews are largely based on the expectation that this product is a 'fryer' like the Tefal Actifry, which tumbles the food in a small amount of oil. This doesn't. It's a totally different process. Some discontent is voiced as this is basically a very small fan oven... and it is. The difference lies in the sheer power and pressure of the heat and fan in a small area, it blasts the food with super heated air which goes under the food and is forced up around the food in a vortex. If there is any oil present, the food will fry and fry evenly. otherwise it is baked at high power and speed. My first experiment, probably like many others was to make chips, from real potatoes. They were a bit like oven baked wedges, but far far faster. I wasn't impressed and put it back in the box... I tried again, using frozen scampi. Unbelievably good, puffed up, super crispy and moist inside... OK, this was better than being 'fried' and was faster than the instructions suggested... Chicken Kiev - same result, super crispy and perfectly cooked and unlike the oven, the garlic butter stayed firmly inside! I was on a roll, Fish fingers, crispy and perfect. More like fried than oven baked. Stuffed peppers...stack neatly into the basket and taste amazing in no time... Cauliflower cheese... in a bowl, the air fryer blasts it to perfection in minutes. Fried chicken... don't get me started, just coated some chicken, spritzed with oil and put in the fryer... perfect in no time, crispy and moist. Frozen chips are way better than in the oven... not black on one side and dry, they do taste fried, but are dryer due to the lack of oil. And take far less time. I've now discovered that bake in the tray foods can fit into the basket...and take no time at all, to be golden and toasted, everything from lasagne to chicken dinners... it's not 'frying' but this machine is so versatile. All in all, I went from being disappointed, to utterly loving this. its small, powerful and incredibly adaptable. I would buy another immediately if this one died.

Potentially very useful for singletons but i regret hoping size doesn’t matter. Big enough for you?
I live alone and am struggling to force myself to cook.. this seemed like a great idea as when i have work, it’s really odd hours and often i need something hot asap then i have to go to bed.. must have been evil in former life. Anyway. The basket is big enough for a pork chop and some chips (to try to indicate to you it’s not big). NB if you try to cook a pork chop in it, make sure you can reach the mute button on your smoke alarm. Mine went off for the first time in ten years... The instructions. Ludicrous. See photo. That is all you get. No, i don’t know what the symbols mean... i spoke with customer support, they were going to have something sent to me. Not arrived yet... edit: response was a pdf nice leaflet which would’ve been great had i had it or a link to it in my packaging. Picked up a few hints from it (e.g. it’s good for reheating pastries!) but still only the pictogram for cooking instructions. It’s not a problem really, i suppose. I can say. Frozen oven chips - 16 minutes and they’re just about perfect. Bacon - 9 minutes. Big burger/ chicken filet burger - 10/15 minutes. Pork chop (just don’t) less than 15 minutes. Actually everything i’ve Put in it has come out tasting lovely. I suspect it’ll be restricted to cooking frozen chips though i will try making roast potato/ chips myself, it looks easy. Cleanup - i’ve tipped fat when hot into a cup, put in hot water and detergent, left for a bit. Easy cleanup (though you tube videos say don’t use nylon scrubbing pads as bits get left behind) i’ve Found so far just a dishcloth and soapy water is enough. The whole cooking bit is dishwasher proof apparently (i don’t have one but is reassuring to know i can get the entire basket wet) I’ve used it every day this week. I think i will find a use for it several times a week into the future, it has to be cheaper than firing up a whole old fashioned oven for 200g oven chips. It’s basically a 1500w fan heater. It isn’t silent but noise isn’t a problem. In summary it could be useful but make sure it’s big enough for your intended usage. Chips for 1/2 people fine. Pork chops and chips for 2? No way. If other owners actually understand the cooking instructions i’d Appreciate feedback - i’ve Looked online and there’s nothing else for this base model: the dearer ones come with cookbooks but the pictures aren’t consistent. The app? Yeah, can’t see that that’s useful. For this model it has little information: as far as i can see it doesn’t give the basics like chips/ fish fingers/ burgers/ roast potato. And i am not impressed by customer support (surprisingly)
