Hands down, the best tracker I have ever used! I have used 4 or 5 different trackers in the past, but this one beats all the rest I have previously used by a country mile! I originally had a spare mobile phone set up with a 4G sim and a GPS app installed, and it worked OK, but the battery life on the phone wasn't great and I could only charge it whilst I had the ignition on, so after a day or so it would drain the battery life. So I looked at an alternative option. I purchased a GPS tracker (i forget the name of the brand) which i hardwired into the car via the fuse box - again, this worked OK, but it had a very buggy app and rarely showed the correct location. So I then purchased a 'mini GPS' sim tracker that claimed to work with any sim carrier...but it didn't and I could even get it to work. Lastly, before I got this device, I purchased the Vodafone curve which has a built in v-sim. Out of all the previous ones, the vodafone curve is the best, and works relatively well for a small monthly fee - but - compared to this item, the curve is nothing. Now...for THIS item...what a nice, easy and simple device that works...and very well! After unboxing, there's a slip with an activation code to register the device. Then it was just a case of downloading the devices app and plugging into the OBD port of my car. No wires. No mess. No fuss. Don't even have to worry about fiddling with a sim card as it has one built in. Don't have to worry about battery life either. It pulls through enough power without the ignition on and no reduction in battery voltage and ...it just works very well. It even has useful features in the app to enable smart security to detect vibration and you can even set it up to detect harsh cornering/braking/accellation etc. You can see exactly when the engine is started and stopped, where the car has been on each trip...and even follow the map LIVE if you wanted. Literally the only nag I had was that once I plugged the device into my OBD port, the flap door that covers my port wouldn't close as the device was sticking out. But this was a very easy and simple workaround...the guys who manufacturer this device also offer an extension OBD cable, and its relatively cheap, too. I purchased the cable, and once I installed it, I was able to hide the device in the dashboard and close the flap door. This device also detects and notifies you when it is plugged in or unplugged. I dont have a bad thing to say about it. I gave had it in the car almost a week now...and I love how simple it is to operate. The monthly subscription is 100% worth it.

I purchased the obd port tracker along with the obd slim splitter cable which enabled me to hide my CarLock tracker yet still have my obd port available for use, the tracker is brilliant and is very accurate, combined with the app which shows you your driving statistics, speed, harsh braking,cornering etc, it really is a great product and gives me piece of mind knowing my car is protected 24/7 and also helps me improve my driving. I fitted this over 3 months ago and had no issues whatsoever and I carnt see any in the future it is a solid tracker and customer support is excellent, I’ve recently purchased the CarLock Bluetooth tag which enables and disables the tracker when you approach/leave your car again giving me peice of mind, I hope this helps someone who is considering buying this tracker, I say go for it you won’t regret it

Very easy to install and set up. I have been using it for around 2 weeks now. Thoughts so far, when it works it is fantastic but there are too many issues with the device. 1. Trips are not always logged. Have to contact support to resolve. Takes around 48 hrs. UPDATE* Support has fixed this problem and it is working fine. 2. Smart tag on Bluetooth does not always work. On a few occasions that smart tag has not automatically disabled the security. UPDATE* Support has resolved this problem with my iPhone. Had to enable CarLock in Motion & Fitness. 3. Driving score not logged. Have to contact support to resolve. Takes around 48 hrs. UPDATE* Support has fixed this problem and it is working fine. I am still very happy with the device. I like the logging of each trip, no more arguments about how long a journey took to drive. GPS location helps in large carparks. The vibration sensor is very sensitive, which is good in case there is a hit and run on your vehicle. The battery monitor is in real time and is useful to check your battery health. I would definitly get the extension cable, allows you to place the device in a more suitable location. I have hid mine behind a panel and secured it with cable ties. This should in theory make it harder for would be thieves to find the device and throw it away. The smart tag, still not sure about this bluetooth device. I am waiting on the battery life before making a final verdict.

I had no intention of buying this item but decided it was a good deal as a direct replacement for my now obsolete TomTom Curfer. If you proved you had one then you qualified to get 20% discount off the price of the CarLock. My Tom Tom Curfer was purchased from a carboot sale (mistake now realized), and seemed like a good deal at £3 but only when I tried to use it did I realize that it is not possible to register the Tom Tom anymore. To not feel I had wasted my money in vain I stumbled across the discount being offered on the Carlock. As most cars have an OBD port, post 1996, this was an obvious choice for me as it made for easy fitting. I primarily wanted to keep track of our teenagers now driving in the house and this seemed the obvious choice. The app is very easy to use and configurable to our needs. I didn't want the Carlock to automatically set to on when the engine has stopped and it was easy to disable this feature. I can't really fault it but if there was one niggle it is that after the first month you seem to have to subscribe to a monthly or yearly charge to continue to use the features of the device as it uses the built in SIM to send all its data. It does seem a small cost for the overall sense of control I now have on the vehicle I decide to attach it to. If I had researched into it a bit more before purchasing I probably would have come across this charge but missed it at the time. I particularly like the way it logs all the journeys made and the data can be downloaded in either XLS or CSV format for future access.

I have knocked this to 1 star. The product is unreliable - a times it gives the right alert, but most of the time it gives a false alert (which wastes calls if you've paid for back-up phone calls, which should not be necessary anyway) or, even worse, gives no alert - or a very late alert - when there is a vibration. When the AA opened my car after I forgot to switch off the alarm, it did nothing. When I intentionally shook the car to try to set off the alarm - nothing. It's far too unreliable and I've now switched to a mobile-monitored CCTV. That required mobile WiFi (though if your car is parked close enough to your house you can maybe use your house WiFi if it has a strong signal) but now I have the advantage of mobile WiFi in my car. The CCTV has done what an alarm system cannot - allowed me to see that a garage is dodgy and allowed me to see that another garage had finished working on my car. But even if we ignore those things as they're not the fault of the carlock manufacturer, the carlock is still dodgy. Don't waste money on it. I've cancelled my subscription. ----------------------- Original review: PLEASE LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS. This product stops working eventually. Contrary to popular belief, you are legally entitled to return it after 30 days as your statutory rights apply and this product should work much longer than 30 days. Company now says that they are not tracking customers. As is the case for most people, I thought that the tracker only let ME know (through the app) where my car was and what it was doing. After requesting support for problems with the vibration alter not making a sound until ages later (despite showing in the log it detected a vibration earlier), the company admitted to tracking me! I never gave consent to this, it is a blatant breach of data protection legislation, and, as the company sells products in the UK, I will be making a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office and sending the product back. I suggest everyone else does the same. If you are passed the 30-day Amazon guarantee, you still have statutory rights which you can exercise by contacting the seller or Amazon, as refund guarantees are not allowed to affect your statutory rights (that's why when packets of crisps say to send them back if not satisfied, they say 'This does not affect your statutory rights' - as it's not allowed to).

Super-simple to set up once you find your OBD port. Zero false alarms as yet, 1 month in.

I have been using Carlock for several months, its a wonderful device, very helpful and accurate. Highly recommended!
