A very good fan that I can recommend to others.
The fan is very quiet in operation, at least at speeds 1 & 2 and the remote control is simple to operate - simple enough to use in the dark if required. If the wall switch is turned on, then the light automatically illuminates, but the fan does not automatically come on (where a remote is installed), which is a useful feature. The whole unit looks attractive and despite a couple of niggles described below I would recommend it. The remote control unit is not supplied with batteries (2 x AA) and the battery contacts are a bit flimsy, but the overall construction is sturdy. I installed the fan in my bedroom which has a sloped ceiling and the ball joint in the suspension unit will accommodate slopes up to about 30 degrees from horizontal. To do this, I needed a 300 mm extension rod to prevent the fan blades from being too close to the ceiling. This lowers the fan unit by an additional 200 mm, but the supplied wiring loom extension is a little too long and the extra wiring needs to be tucked inside the ceiling dome. Although the remote control is a considerable advantage, the controller power unit (about the size of a pack of cards) sits inside the ceiling dome, taking up all of the free space and leaving no room for a ring main junction block (not supplied). If you have a concrete ceiling you will probably need an additional junction box to house the ring main wiring (if installed). If you don't have the remote control, then there is probably room to fit the junction block within the dome. The instructions are delightfully vague, being keen to describe everything in 26 languages rather than use good pictograms to be understood by all. It took me about 4 hours to install, but a good portion of that time was in sorting out the ring main. I would recommend fitting the fan blades before installing the motor unit - much easier to do it on the ground rather than from a step ladder. Make sure that the connector blocks are pushed fully home to click, otherwise the connection is not made.

Perfect in every way, silent, well made, great value
Ok its a ceiling fan! But there are a couple of things to say about it. Firstly, it is beautifully made, with a shiny white surface paint, like an enamel but it is paint. The blades are clean cut and well finished. The assembly instructions cater for high or low ceilings and the bits go together perfectly. I also bought the Westinghouse IR remote control at the same time. The remote control unit fits inside the ceiling bracket and has the right plugs to connect to the fan wires. The infra red receiver sticks to the outside of the bezel through a indentation already there for it. The remote controls the fan (three speeds) and dims or switches off the light. It is so rare to find something that is beautifully made, designed to work and easy to assemble and fix to the ceiling. The last thing on this rave, the fan is practically silent in power settings 1 and 2 and not bad at all in power setting 3. Also because it is so beautifully finished with its glass light bowl, it fits perfectly in the room adding to the modern effect of my new bedroom. Very very pleased with this (in case you have not gathered this from my review).

German quality
Westinghouse are located in Monchengladbach, Germany but the price of these is so good one has to wonder where they are actually made. Excellent quality and value. Innovative hanging system (makes for easy removal as well if servicing). 3 speeds and separate light toggle. White or grey blades. Good ventilation and very quiet. Motor can be reversed to complement heating. I have 5 of these in a property in the tropics and they cope with long periods in use in high temperatures and humidity. Well balanced. Stable and secure.

A Very Quiet and Efficient Fan
This Ceiling fan is just the job for those who want a straightforward device which will keep them cool. It is built to a tried and trusted design which has proved successful for very many years. Our old fan (which it replaced) always produced a pulsing mains hum, which in the bedroom at night, made falling asleep very difficult. We were amazed at how quiet this new fan was: mains hum was virtually undetectable. On top speed, the blades produced a low 'swishing' sound as they whipped through the air, but we found this to be quite soothing as it lulled us sleep. The chance of unpleasant noises from this fan can be reduced by making sure that everything is assembled securely, with all screws tightened properly so that the metal parts and the glass light shade won't rattle. We found that the easiest way to balance the fan was to apply Blue Tack or similar to the upper surface of each blade in turn, until any wobbling stopped. We dropped a star in our rating because the holes in the fibre washers supplied were too small for the screws they were meant to fit, which made assembly quite difficult. Also, we found the two pull-chains for fan operation were too short for our needs: the chains from our old fan being fitted instead. In spite of this, we consider that overall, this fan is a good quality product and highly recommended.

Quite the best thing I have bought from Amazon!
I've had this for quite a while now, so it is well tried and tested. I am always at least 10 degrees warmer than my husband at night and it has always caused problems. This fan (and the remote) solved these problems immediately. It took two qualified electricians a long time to fit, but they were doing it in the evening with a lead light. We keep the remote between our pillows so that I can turn it on and off whenever I need - but hubby can also operate it if I've fallen asleep and left it on! Fortunately, the ceiling light in the bedroom that the fan has replaced is on my side of the bed and towards the bottom of the bed where my feet are, so that the main cold air is directed at my feet and not at hubby. We had problems about six months ago when it started making a noise when it was working, but we found out that one of the grub screws that hold the light bulb on had worked loose. I suspect that this might have been the problem with a lot of them that have been reviewed as being noisy. We have the slats wood-side facing down and it looks fantastic. It is so very, very quiet, it's amazing. On the very highest speed there is a little bit of white noise, but nothing can be heard with the other speeds. It really has changed our nights - and we are really pleased that we bought the remote too! Buy with confidence (and with the remote), but unless you are really sure you are happy working with electrics, get an electrician to fit it.

Easy to build and install Blades can be interchanged between ...
I have 3 of these now 2 of which have been installed for 2 years. Easy to build and install Blades can be interchanged between white and walnut finishes to suit most rooms 3 speed operation to suit the warmest of summer days and nights Very quiet in operation and have 2 settings for summer and winter use to direct the airflow downwards for summer and upwards to the ceiling and out towards the walls to circulate warm air in winter. I can't think of any negative points, fans are well built, robust and reliable. Good value for money.

So good I brought Five!
I had the Vegas fan in a room in my old house and was really happy with it. Having moved I have now brought 5 of them, One for each of the bedrooms, the lounge and dining area. They are great quality, reasonably priced, easy to install, very quiet and with the digital remote you can use dimmable bulbs. You do need to programme a different frequency on each one but it's easy to do.
