Be Beautiful: Every Girl's Guide to Hair, Skin and Make-up : Hindhaugh, Alice Hart-Davis & Molly: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Be Beautiful by Alice HartDavis & Molly Hindhaugh - I ordered this book for my granddaughter who is 11.Really a great book full of fantastic tips.I even learnt some things too. Review: APERFECT FOR TEENAGERS - Bought two of these for my grand-daughters aged 11 and 14. Almost kept one for myself. The book is perfect for teenagers beginning to explore the world of makeup. It explains how to apply makeup without it looking ridiculous, care for their skin and hair. It is not patronising and is written in a format that would encourage any teen, even the truly rebellious ones to read and take note. I think the key to this book is the input from the authors daughter, which deals with real issues for teenagers rather than issues that adults think teenagers should deal with. It deals with the importance of skin cleansing particularly in terms of the need to remove makeup before going to bed. Anyone who has had to try and explain this to teenage girls will know how much notice they take, but I suspect because of the way this book is written, they will be more likely to get into that routine. It does not promote specific products, which I think is a bonus, nor does it promote the idea that you need to purchase expensive moisturisers and cleansers etc. I would definitely recommend this to parents of teenagers, not just those who are beginning to discover makeup

Great book for pre-teens and teens
Great book that covers a range of topics from skincare and hair to makeup, teeth and eating well. For the slightly more sensitive children, there is a photo of skin cancer that younger children may find upsetting. Aside from that a good book. One section is ‘how to look good in photos’ so for those self-conscious or at ask risk of developing worries, perhaps skip over that section.

Perfect book for teen girls
Bought this book for my sister (aged 15) who loves it. Very nicely laid out with clear information about all aspects of hair, skin, make-up. It is very easy to read and really seems to ask all the questions teenage girls could have about anything do with beauty, caring for their hair and so on. Written jointly by mother and daughter it has a very relaxed feel, not at all stiff or too much information. Would recommend to any teenage girl who is starting to get interested in/ wants to know more about make-up, keeping their skin nice or any beauty issue etc.

Okay
This was okay but seemed a bit old-fashioned in the illustrations. However, some good tips for someone who doesn’t have much clue about applying makeup. I fear it will end up collecting dust though!

The useful guide
I bought this for my grandaughter as she's now becoming interested in all the things teenagers love. I liked it because it gave practical advice without promoting any brands. Useful guides on how to care for your skin, hair, nails etc. Let's face it, young people never want to listen to adults close to them, but seeing it written down will, hopefully, get the message across. Even though she doesn't have spots, forewarned is forearmed! Clever idea that Alice Hart-Davis worked with her own daughter and used large photographs to illustrate each item. Wish there had been a book like this when I was young.

Great Christmas present!
I bought this for my 14 year old daughter and it`s been a big hit! She absolutely loves it! It is well written with good advice for skin care and make up tips, with informative photos. In this day and age of `celebrity` it was quite refreshing to have a book aimed at young teenagers with sensible advice whilst still retaining the `cool` factor. The unexpected big hit of Christmas. Highly recommended.
