Fashionpedia: The Visual Dictionary of Fashion Design

Honestly I’m glad I invested. I have this, Textilepedia and the Business one as well. It’s a great starting point. Gives you a lot about everything fashion. From silhouettes to seams, this book has you covered. It doesn’t explain everything about everything (otherwise it’d endless) but it explains enough for you to then research further for yourself. Highly recommend for those about to start your voluntary prison senten- I mean your fashion course. Jokes aside, I wish I had this book before I started fashion design (got it in my 3rd semester for Masters in fashion and Textiles). Worth it!

This visual dictionary is a must-have for anyone interested in fashion design! The illustrations are stunning, and the information is well-presented. Fast shipping and good packaging. I highly recommend this book for designers and enthusiasts

I love this book for reference, a wealth of knowledge that I regularly use when trying to list my hoards of clothes online. Packed full with so much information and looks gorgeous on the side

I bought the Fashionary poses cards and was really impressed with the quality of them which led me to look in to the other goods made by the company, which is how I discovered this book. I bought this at the end of a 3 year fashion course which is a bit gutting as this would have helped me so much during that time! The book is smaller than I expected which I was a bit put out by initially but as I've used it more and more, its actually much handier in this size. It fits in a handbag so you can take it out and about. The book itself feels fancy as it's cloth bound and the front label is an actual fabric label! (I know I said you can fit it in a handbag but I actually don't as I don't want to damage it's gorgeous exterior!!) The book covers so much inside, I use it for style ideas when I'm designing a garment as it gives lots of templates for garments and also helps me learn the names of different cuts and styles. There are sections on fabrics, everything you need in a sewing room, to start a business and so much more! I think my fashion class mates thought I was being sponsored by Fashionary for the amount that I talked about how great this book is, but it really is! (And I'm sadly really not sponsored by them, just a big fan!) I'd highly recommend this book to all fashion students/designers - it really is a fashion dictionary!

The inside of the book is really useful, but my copy has arrived with the cover upside down! I would have liked to exchange it for a regular right sized up copy but for some reason Amazon is not offering me that option online, just an exchange for a different item or a refund. I'll most likely contact them directly about this. I dont know if this is a freak incident or a batch of the books have been made wrong - the cover actually has a real label on it so it has glued on upside down rather than printed that way.

I bought this because the reviews and pictures made it sound like a must have book. This is A5 size and contains so many wonderful pages of drawings of clothes, accessories included are yarns, trims bags shoes etc. Any creative person will benefit from this beautiful book. I will use this for painting figures. Improving drawing skills and as a reference guide.
