Unisex Cotton Sun Cap Outdoor Bucket Mesh Boonie Hat (S01-Khaki)

I have over the last few months purchased three of these hats as they are so good! I had bought the first one for my husband (who is bald) because he needed something that wouldn't be too hot or heavy and so with the mesh on the top we thought it might do the trick. It does! I then bought a second one so he has one to keep in the shed for when he does the gardening and mows the lawn and one in the hallway for when he walks the dog. Fit wise (he does have a large head) he found it fitted with no problem, there is a small 'buckle' at the back that you can use to make it slightly larger/smaller if needed. I have never been able to wear a hat due to headaches, (to be honest I should have been born a Bat as me and the sun just dont get on), but the sun has been so strong and bright this week that I borrowed his spare one when we went out walking just to see if I could get on with it. Again because of the netting/mesh at the top of the hat I found it cooler and the material is light weight so no pressure on my head. It also helped shade my eyes. I have therefore purchased a third one for myself which I can pop on when putting out the washing or doing some gardening or going out walking. Using the 'buckle' at the back I was able to make it a smaller fit I would really recommend the hat, it is a low price but to be honest I was still impressed by the quality. They have a few colours but we went for the lightest colour again to help with the coolness of the fabric.

I like this hat, but it could be cheaper. My hat was sewn up even and straight, quality was OK. Brim up or down looks nice. Not fond of the lettering on the front, but I wanted this style.

My husband is very impressed with this hat, he uses it when gardening and it covers his ears and nose from the sun. Good quality.

It's easy to pack and I don't care if it gets crumpled. I just need to keep the sun off my balding head which it does brilliantly. Keeps me cool with the vented top and helps with the summer insects too. It fits my nuggin great due to the adjustability. It will need washed soon as it fair soaks up sweat so I hope it will survive a few washes. Even if it only lasts a couple of seasons, it is decent for the price.

I bought this hat because I saw a lot of people say it fitted their large heads. They obviously didn't have really large heads at all, because it's tiny in real life. Seeing as it was so cheap and flimsy I tried to make it larger by cutting sections out with some scissors, but it's still too tight, and now I can't send it back ;( It doesn't offer good protection from the sun, as it has a mesh-like material at the front, which would let the sun shine directly onto your head. The one thing I would say is that it is very lightweight, just not in a good way. Going to try to find a better hat now.

Some strange criticisms in other reviews which are misleading. Someone said it was too floppy. Well its not advertised as a slouch hat as worn by the Australian Army. It is in fact a Boonie hat or Bush Hat, with side snaps, depending where you are from. It will be a lot cooler than a cheap polyester hat which is non breathable. This is all cotton with mesh so it won't be like wearing a pressure cooker. As for the debate on size. I am size 58 hat size and it would fit a slightly larger head. However, as any serviceman will tell you, it can be tightened on the head. Take the draw string towards the rear label, put hat on head and then tighten the draw string to the back of your skull. (there is a vid on You Tube) It will not then come off whilst running or in a breeze. So a great hat and much cheaper and better quality than similar ones I looked at in Millets today.

I wrote earlier that I was not impressed with this item, but after wearing it for some time I take back my original review and admit I was wronge. It is quite comfortable but I still feel it needs a better way to alter the fit. I hope this helps others with their decision on whether to buy it.

First of all, the order to delivery time was the next day, most impressive! The hat is in perfect condition, no flaws or imperfections, the adjusting belt can be used to improve fitting but mine did not require any adjustment - and I've got a big head (most caps I try on don't fit well) and the neck strap can also be used to secure in windy conditions. This hat is very comfortable, lightweight and the mesh allows cooling air through. I use the stud fastenings to wear the hat sides raised and in hotter weather conditions I will have the brim loose. All in all an excellent purchase, well recommended.

Ich habe diesen Hut auf unserer Ägyptenreise im Sommer 2025 immer wieder aufgehabt da dort die Sonne natürlich extrem ist und ich mir nicht die "Platte" verbrennen wollte. Die passform und der Sitz sind ok. Man schwitzt auch nicht übermässig darunter wie z.Bsp bei Basecaps ( die hatte ich auch mit und diese war nach 5 Min immer total durchnässt ) Durch das Zugband kann man den Hut gut unter dem Kinn befestigen - wenn der Wind mal etwas mehr weht. Alles im allem: Gutes Produkt

Tut, was er soll, der Hut. Verstellbar, leicht und angenehmer Tragekomfort auch bei Hitze dank der Belüftungslöcher. Kann als Fischer- oder Cowboyhut verwendet werden.
