Better than it looks!
Up to now I've used star wheel dressing tools for the dressing and trueing of grinding wheels, and have become disenchanted with wear and debris causing the wheels to stop rotating. A colleague of mine introduced me to this little tool. I have to say that at first glance, that I thought "one touch and this diamond coating will be gone". However, my doubts were unworthy. I applied the tool to the face of quite a large grinding wheel, with a light, delicate touch, and in a few seconds the wheel was trued. To my surprise, the diamonds remain in good working order after doing their work. The tool is much less intimidating to use for those with no experience of a Huntingdon Star Dresser, and I would say that there is much less stress on the wheel too. It does leave the wheel somewhat smoother than the star wheels do, but the grinding action is still effective after dressing. Give it a try, you can't go wrong at the price.

Simple tool.
Had my doubts when I ordered this tool because it was so cheap. It is in fact a very good little tool. Easy to use and very effective. Dressed both my grinding wheels in less than two minutes. Not sure how effective it would be on large wheels, but on small to medium stones it is excellent. A good buy.

good value
This is not for truing a wheel but does a good job of cleaning the aluminium delrin etc which you are not supposed to grind but always do.A bit easier to use than the wheel cutter type and less brutal so ideal for the less than workshop trained.

Well worth the money
I picked up an old, 'bomb-proof', WOLF bench grinder at a local auction for a song. The two grinding wheels, a rough and a smooth one, were new, but both were heavily 'pasted' with aluminium particles. Most authoritative sources advise against grinding aluminium on account of its tendency to soften and become stuck to grinding wheels. I was a bit doubtful that this little tool would have much effect, and it seemed a bit pricey compared to the cheaper 'dressing blocks' that are available. What a magic little tool it turned out to be! Within only a few seconds of facing the grinding stones their surfaces rapidly became free of all the aluminium particles and they were left very smooth, clean and 'square', and in an 'as new' condition. The stones needed much less dressing than I expected and the diamond-coated, abrasive edge is very effective. Although it is not that cheap the dressing tool has turned out to be well worth the money and I would highly recommend it as a means of 'renovating' uneven and aluminium-encrusted grinding stones. Remember to re-adjust the gap of the guards after dressing the stones since their diameter is slightly reduced in the the dressing process.

great tool
Used this to true up a new grinding wheel (see my review) I recently bought. Previously I had always used a wheel type dresser but I thought I would give this tool a try. Quite impressed with the speed and efficiency this small dressed trued up the new wheel and produces a good true grinding face to grind tools upon. A great little tool.

Brilliant
As a professional wood turner specialising in freehand copy turning, I use a wide range of gouges and chisels and spend a lot of time at the grinding wheel as I go along. When my (Rolls Royce-sourced) diamond dresser failed last year, I soon acquired a serious central dip in my favourite sharpening wheel, so decided to true it up with this little tool costing less than a tenth of the RR one. I thought 'At that price, I don't care it falls apart in five minutes'. To my amazement it took less than half a minute to true the wheel beautifully, and by cleaning it at the same time made it possible to see, from the colour change as the central dip diminished, just how the surface of the wheel was becoming flat and true again. It's a long time since I was so chuffed - a really successful little tool. In fact when I get a minute I am going to scrap its rather cheap handle and turn it a nice one in maple maybe. Does that sound daft? I don't care. I will enjoy using it even more!

Does the job
I didn’t expect much but have resurfaced four 150mm diameter grinding wheels so far with excellent results. The finish of the tool could be better but it does the job it is intended for. Don’t know how long it will last but so far does not show any adverse wear

Love 4x4
Very pleased , purchased this tool at the same time as a new grinding wheel thinking it cant be much good but worth a punt . It works really well , the wheel was back to new in no time and no need to replace it.....as others say watch the dust there is a lot of it...!!!
