Q: Can you use the pink tin or the blue tin as a pre styler?

Pink is definitely not a pre styler. It's a hard wax. I think the fibre one may be more like what you're looking for but I've never used it myself.

Q: Is it water based or oil based? Can it wash out easily with normal shampoo?

It is OIL based 100% and is also a Dutch product

I was a big fan of dax red, I used to use it myself. This is better by a mile! You'll get the same hold and shine with less product, plus the scent is amazing! You can't go wrong with this product if you're a dax red fan :)
