Works fine for link aggregation at full speed
Despite what a previous reviewer stated, this device works just fine for link aggregation at near full speed. Link aggregation works by apportioning traffic to multiple destinations to different ports of the aggregated link based on a hash of the destination MAC and IP addresses, so traffic to two destinations could each use a different port and get the full speed of that port. It provides no throughput benefit for a single destination host. To properly test throughput over all ports of the aggregated link, you need to send traffic to two or more destination addresses at the same time. I ran such a test using iperf3 to two destinations with consecutive IP addresses (10.0.1.90, 10.0.1.91), but it still used only one port according to traffic counters on my switch, resulting in only about 460Mbps throughput to each host. When I changed the destination host's address from .91 to .92, this resulted in test traffic going via separate ports and I got close to full speed through both ports simultaneously: 110 MB/sec or 920Mbits/sec. Link aggregation was working as expected. The USB3 gigabit chips used in this adapter are ASIX AX88179, which are well supported by Linux. Whether using link aggregation or not, this is a useful adapter to have.

Great product, full USB 3
Great product, full USB 3.0 speed through hub and included power adapter means that I know I won't draw too much current for one port. FYI, it does work quite happily as a hub and with ethernet functionality without the power supply but I've not tried this with much data throughput. Powered, the ethernet port is fast enough to (almost) saturate a gigabit connection (~110MB/sec) but I am almost certain this is due to overheads, cable length and other networking variables which are of no fault of the hub.

Very nice product. The Ethernet did require drivers for my MacBook Pro Yosemite 10.10 - but no problem. They came down fine and installed and worked perfectly. My only criticism is that the blue LED on the back is very bright indeed and almost lights up the room at night :-)

Dual Gigabit connections that work together.
Five Stars! Connected immediately within Windows 8.1. For those who are interested, the adapter does allow paired connections, and the performance is very good. Test setup: Laptop with the USB3 adapter connected via a Netgear gigabit switch to Windows 8.1 PC with dual Intel NICs, each computer using two network cables. After pre-copying a large (10GB) file so that it was cached into memory on the laptop; copying to the PC via the dual link achieved sustained 186MB/s (copy dialog) with balanced loads of 80% utilization (task manager) for each of the two Ethernet circuits. Using a single Ethernet cable gigabit saturation (98%+) was easily achieved. Other scenarios would get different results.

Unreliable
Had trouble re-establishing network connection when powered off every night. Had to unplug then reconnect to Macbook Pro to get ethernet working every morning. Tried updating drivers & firmware to no avail, in fact firmware update from StarTech website rendered USB ports unuseable. Would recommend looking for a more reliable brand. Update: Tried 2018 Startech driver update and it fixed the ethernet connection, but the USB ports still don't work. Using an Apple USB Ethernet Adaptor instead. Am now trying to get a replacement from Startech as it has a 2 year warranty. My advise is to avoid this type of device and get a dedicated USB hub as it shouldn't need drivers.

Good. It does the job I want it to do. Internet connection and two USB sticks when setting up new surface pros. Nice if it came with a bag, startech. Over all very happy

Not cheap, but reliable.
Brilliant, if like use, you often require more LAN ports for your laptops. We often use these units for our mobile equipment setups when working remotely. We have never had any issues with these units. They are not cheap, but well worth the money in the long-term.

Working on a laptop with no Ethernet port, so far so good.

I'm using this to provide an additional Ethernet adapter to a Vmware Workstation virtual machine. It works perfectly. I've used other Star Tech products in the past and have never had any issues with them.

Assolutamente da evitare su sistemi Arm. In ambiente x86 dovrebbe funzionare ma non ho provato
