I have been using Collonil to protect my expensive Mulberry leather bags for a few years as it's the product Mulberry sell and recommended themselves. Normally the leather gel comes in a small pot (not easy to use and runs out quick), this pump dispenser is great. It is easy to use and get the right ammount and lasts ages - even when protecting large items. It conditions and protects leather from water. My bags always look great and I don't have to worry about the rainy British weather. Can be use for shoes and other leather items.

Seems to work really well with Mulberry leather bags and Tods moccasins. It gives the leather a nice gentle clean whilst leaving a moderately water repellent coating behind (good for light precipitation). It doesn't change the colour of th leather at all and if anything probably helps with the development of the patina, keeping it looking and feeling natural. Very nice. If you're needing a lot of water resistance (eg more rugged leather footwear), I'd look somewhere else. One jar will last about 3-4 full applications (for bags).

I like to take care of quality leather products so purchased the gel as a protector for some suede boots - I don't trust sprays to do the job. I wiped the boots with a damp cloth to remove any dust & dirt & then applied the gel, which has the texture of a light cream, with a small sponge. Go sparingly, it would be easy to over-apply. I was a bit nervous about the nap of the suede disappearing as I applied the gel but trusted the instructions & left the boots to dry, probably for a couple of hours. I then used a suede brush in a circular motion, the nap reappeared (phew!) & the leather felt soft & protected without any visible residue. I have been out in the rain since & the boots repelled the water - yay! I have also tried the gel on normal leather & it left it soft with a nice sheen. This product may have been expensive but the results are exactly what you want & a little goes such a long way it's going to last for ages.

I used this for the first time recently as I have previously just used the Collonil Waterstop Classic Spray. The Waterstop Spray and this Gel both say they waterproof, but only the spray says it also has UV protection to stop the colour of the leather from fading. The new Collonil spray - Carbon Pro, doesn't mention any UV protection either Although the Waterstop spray is a bit quicker to apply than the gel, and the Waterstop spray has UV protection so stops the colour of the leather from fading, (which the gel doesn't mention), the gel has certain advantages over the Waterstop spray. The Gel nourishes the leather and and conceals scuff marks, which the Waterstop spray doesn't do. The Gel has made my old leather bag look like new. It is also easier to get the gel into all the little nooks and crannies, and you don't have to try not to inhale it when you apply it like you do with the spray.

I bought this gel for my mulberry bag as this is the recommended brand to use and it's worked a treat! Has made it feel nice and nourished and completely waterproofed it. I wanted to try it because I wear dark jeans and i'm getting some dye transfer on to my bag, since using this gel it has been a lot easier to clean dye off it because it's working like a barrier to stop it getting engrained on the leather. It hasn't changed the colour at all either or made it too shiny! Highly recommend this product and at a great price here with speedy delivery!
