Used in six cup stove-top coffee maker
Didn't purchase for aeropress as I don't have one! and no intention of purchasing one, I like my coffee hot not tepid. Instead purchased for use in a so called "six cup" stove-top coffee peculator/ espresso, which makes only a small mug, but now it makes it without a load of "sludge" in it.So far I have only tried the "fine" filter, I have yet to try the "extra fine" and the mesh filters. Note that the filter is also very easy to clean, I just gently rub it over with a sponge and it's done. This fits the coffee maker perfectly and is used as a second filter. This filter has really improved the flavor of the coffee, as the coffee is hot and can't be drunk straight away, not having the sludge in it stops it getting bitter, and like I wrote above I've yet to try the other two filters. Absolute bargain for three good quality filters.

Excellent filters, for all grinds of coffee.
When I initially got these, I went straight for the mesh filter, which handles finely ground coffee perfectly.. Then I obtained some “Bird and Wild” coffee for the RSPB great birdwatch. When I came to try this, the water sluiced through the mesh, leaving a weak brew. I had an initial grumble, but then remembered there were two other filter sizes. Counterintuitively, the coarser filters stopped the sluicing (I’m assuming it’s because the larger holes trap the larger particulates, forming part of the filtering). Mystery solved! Coarse filters for coarse grinds, fine mesh for very fine grinds (I tend to drink lavazza, which is very finely ground). I’ve now had hundreds of mugs from these filters, and no sign of wear or degrading, and no damage to the aeropress either. The saving on paper is admittedly minor, but they’re great filters that give you the flexibility to get the best out of your coffee when used well.

Mesh is best of the sizes
They work... they filter coffee but having used both these and the filter papers I prefer the papers. These don’t always work, if you pour water too fast/slow/wrong angle/look at it funny the filter will lift a little momentarily and burp allowing coffee grinds out into the cup (have tried both traditional and inverted method) but this isn’t all the time, it’s an exciting added jeopardy to the ritual of coffee making. My least favourite bit though is the coffee seems ‘oily’ somehow, the filter can’t stop any of the coffee oils which the paper filter would giving a slightly murkier cup. Still drinkable but I’d rather the paper ones

Improves the flavour of an espresso like brew
These filters allow more of the coffee oils to pass through than the paper filters, giving it more of a full bodied, smooth espresso flavour. In my hands the paper filters give more of a 'pour-over' flavour - while these metal filters mimic espresso. I'm very please with the result. For the fine grind I use (and grind is all important) and also Aldi's 'Italian espresso' ground coffee works well. In my hands the mesh gives the best flavour ie most oil and a semi creme effect. I've not experience any residual solids passing through - maybe a tinyesest amout that is quite drinkable. I suspect I'm getting an even grind with little dust from a sage grinder and also pre-ground from Aldi. Its the closes to a shop bought espresso in the home. For a strong espressso is use 18 to 22g of fine ground coffee, add 50g of, off-the -boil water, and stir for 30 seconds then top up to between 65 and 90g of water in total, depending on strength I'm after. Very important to wipe any remains off the top of the aeropress ( or it will leak) place the mesh onto the press, then the grill plate and twist into place. Place a warm cup on top and then invert at 1.5 minutes and press hard to get as much pressure on the cake. Sometimes some coffee comes out the gap between mesh and grill but mostly it flows well. Set to one side by the sink to cool. After drinking the coffee, clean-up, lift the cool mesh of the coffee bed, wash under the tap, and then squeeze the coffee into the bin in the normal way. I've been very pleased with the results. I'm sure the mixed results reported earlier are due to peculiarities with grinding and getting irregular grounds. This method works best with the inverted method, the normal (aeropress instructions) method allows too much water to flow through the filter before its brewed. I found grounds stuck in the holes of the fine and ultra-fine filter and there seemed to be less oil flowing through with these filters, in my hands the mesh made the fullest cup of coffee. Best I've had at home from any espresso machine I've tried.

Excellent Value
Bought these to replace an Able disk which "disappeared" from the Office. Speedy delivery. Like the idea of the 3 different types of filter. Quality is very good - not as rigid as the Able but no impact in use. Slides off nicely to enable ejection of used grounds. Am now a whizz at the inversion brewing method and enjoying great coffee every morning with no residual "paper" taste.

This is much better than using paper filters. I've experimented with all three and have had no problems using them after reading the instructions. Each provides a different coffee taste just as the manufacturer suggests. They have all worked flawlessly.

When I bought this I'd been using an Aeropress for around a year. I loved the coffee it made, but having to keep buying paper filters was getting old. With these metal filters, I have gone through the whole of the past year, working from home, making coffee several times a day, and not had to pay an extra cent. And it introduced me to a whole new way of using the Aeropress that creates such good coffee, I don't miss going to the café near my deserted office. The big epiphany for me was to use the 'inverted' method - start with the plunger in the main body of the aeropress, load in the coffee so it sits on top of the plunger, pour in the water, stir, then screw on the cap and the metal filter together. When ready to press, just flip it over on top of the cup and push. It works great and because the liquid doesn't start draining before you've finished pouring you get a more consistent load and extraction. A year on, I'm still really happy with the fine screen. The mesh I found less effective over time but with this pack, you get to experiment and choose your favourite.
