Needed some temporary lampshades so didn't want to spend a fortune, these did arrive in a large box but they did arrive in perfect order. These are very attractive and a nice size. They are simple to put together but they are a little delicate and tear when you use a bit too much force. They look lovely when the light is on, no more glaring lights. Overall very nice and I think we will be keeping them as they finish our rooms off nicely.

Bit smaller than I expected.

A good IkEA quality lamp shade. Better then their standard ones because it has a bit different pattern that makes it look more sophisticated and elevates the room. I would recomend this for everyone who doesn’t know what lamp shade to chose and wants it to be not so dominant in the room. It suits neutral natural styles and minimalistic ones, however it depends sometimes. It is a good addition to a budget household and someone who likes lamp shades to be blended with the ceiling and give more sort of “peace” feeling as oppose to a statement of design.

Arrived very quickly. Well packaged. So simple to put together - with care, obviously, as it is made of paper. Looks stylish and cheap as chips. What's not to like?

Maybe I ordered the wrong one but I was expecting a shade with wider loop design. Does the job. It’s in situ. Performance as expected.

As others have mentioned, the stretching wire supplied was far too long. Trying to bend it and fit the ends into the rings was tricky, and could have easily resulted in one of the ends popping out and tearing the paper. There were also a few small holes in the paper - from the bad packaging: a plastic bag, no padding at all, and the wire laid casually on top of the lantern. Finally I gave up on the wire, tied some thin cord to the top rings, and suspended the lantern using a wire tie round the light flex. However, to get the lantern to open out properly, I had to weight the bottom of it, with a small dish and a heavy pebble: unsightly. So, although it works, more or less, I'm very unimpressed by a) what seems to be the wrong size of wire supplied, b) the bad packaging, and c) the need to weight the base, because the stretcher wire wouldn't work. Other than all those, the actual lantern is quite pretty; would it really have been so much trouble for the seller to have supplied the right size wire?

I bought two, and tore a hole in one while fitting it (the interior wire frame punched through while I was adjusting it). I guess I'm not the first person this has happened to bearing in mind the UK population have had these in our houses since the 1970s. Still, some thicker paper reinforcement night be good near the bottom, if you're reading Ikea (and I doubt you are – probably too busy laughing at us for paying so much for something it literally costs pennies to manufacture). In other words these are authentic but basic examples of paper lamp shades. Their larger size means they fit very large bulbs, so if you buy one of those new large "corn cob"-style LED bulbs then you'll be OK (that's what I've use in my shades after fitting). White paper is appreciated by me, rather than off-white or cream etc. Oh, one more thing – they were supplied to me by Amazon in a huge box even though they're pacakged absolutely flat. If like me you're getting tired of having to recycle Amazon cardboard then this is a pain. It's also not good for the environment because the ridiculously overlarge packaging takes up more space in the delivery van.
