Great lead. Despite many people thinking retractable leads are the work of the devil, my opinion is they are great if used sensibly. Gives the dog a good amount of freedom of movement, but you still have some control over them. I would only use this lead in relatively quiet open spaces, not for walking in the street. Tape is better than a thin cord. Less chance of friction burns. I always use a safety wrist strap with this lead, so that if the lead was suddenly yanked out of your hand (if dog chases squirrel for instance), you do not drop the lead and lose control of the dog. This lead is robust, and does the job well. Also I use a couple of bungee extensions in addition to the Flexi lead. they are much better to grab if you need close control of the dog. Grabbing the tape itself should be avoided. In an ideal world dogs would not be on leads, but we don't live in in an ideal world. For me this lead is as good as you are going to get in terms of a compromise between freedom and control. I like the neon colour of the tape as it can be seen from some distance by other dog walkers.

Excellent product, has transformed our walks. After our dog was attacked in the woods we wanted to give him some freedom while being able to keep him safe. This lead is strong, flexible and self corrects so not tangles when it retracts. The length is just enough for space without a huge run up. Really useful while we build confidence (mainly for us) back up.

Summary We bought this for an excitable 15kg Cocker JR cross. It’s proven to be a great lead. It’s very well made and strong. All the clips etc. look well made and work well. The lead is highly visible and is long enough at 8m. The design means that the lead can retract at full speed with an excitable spinning dog and it does not get tangled. It’s relatively lightweight and fits well in the hand, making it comfortable. Recommended. Details The strap tape is 8 metres long which will be long enough for many. However, it is worth pacing it out as it may be less than some people imagine. There is a longer one available at 10m if needed. The tape is a bright neon yellow, which makes it highly visible around others. Because of where we use it, it has tangled around shrubs, trees etc. (crazy dog), and shows no sign of wear. Our pooch is 15kg and can set off like a rocket, and the tape has held up well so far. However, it’s worth noting that a 20kg dog pulling constantly on a lead is different to a 10kg dog hitting top speed and only stopping when it reaches the end. The second example is worse, so choose according to the type of dog you have. The housing is very well made and I can see the difference between this and other cheaper extendable leads we’ve had in the past. It feels really solid and strong. The braking system has worked well every time so far, and the lock is instant and secure. The lock releases well, although like all extendable leads, this is slightly difficult if the dog is pulling constantly. The handle is a nice ‘soft’ feel and overall it feels comfortable in use. The tape guidance system is the bit I questioned before purchase, but it works as well as advertised. Our pooch can run around spinning and going a bit crazy before rushing back, and the tape simply retracts without twisting or kinking; it retracts as fast as our dog runs at us! There’s no jamming which is exactly when you want. This is allowing our dog a lot of freedom to move around; he hasn’t learned recall yet so this is the next best thing. For those who find this important, this is a good looking retractable lead and is clearly better quality than some cheap ones found elsewhere. It performs well, looks good and gives the dog a chance to explore.

very good build quality, excellent strength and doesn't seem heavy. comfy in the hands to carry around and stands out a mile. pretty happy overall, bar for the fact that there's no attachment for the flexi poo-bag holder. That said, to make it compatible would have increased its size, so 'swings and roundabouts'. An excellent dog lead.

Like most people I spend time reading reviews before purchasing but have never left a review, but I have decided to leave one for the Flexi Neon retractable dog lead because there were a few things I was not aware of before purchasing the lead and had I know I would have bought it sooner, instead of spending so much time looking at other retractable leads. First off I have a Husky, so I needed a lead strong enough to withstand the pulling power of a husky that will recoil quick enough to avoid legs getting tangled. - This lead is brilliant. it's well made and long enough to let my dog run about as we walk and lets me keep control when needed. It's really well made and good quality. A couple of thing I was not aware of from the description was that the lead comes with a safety loop that can attach to the handle of the lead with the other end around your wrist. I have uploaded a photo of me using it as I can't see mention of it in the description and we were actually looking for this feature because on a previous lead my dog pulled the lead out of my wife's hand and ran off - making her reluctant to use a lead like this when walking near roads. So seeing this in the pack with the lead was fantastic and a total bonus to us. Now both my son and wife can walk the dog without worrying about the lead being pulled from their hand. It will also be useful when wearing gloves are with cold hands. I don't know why they don't make this clearer with the product. It isn't even mentioned anywhere in the instructions. The second point I wasn't clear about until I saw the lead it that the coiled lead is open in the handle and is not encased by the body of the handle. I could see the yellow neon stripe in the photo but assumed it was a sticker on the casing not the actual lead. To me this is a huge plus because having a husky, hair gets everywhere and inevitably some gets on the lead which feeds back into case when it retracts. I'm sure this is what stopped the previous retractable lead we had from retracting quickly like it had done when we first had it. With the spool open it's easy to quickly clean it and clear any hair that would be out of sight and reach in other types of leads. Lastly the neon yellow colour. It says it can help on dark nights - maybe a little, bit but it's not reflective so not sure if it helps. Where it is of a huge benefit is it's clearly seen across a park so where before with my black lead other dog owners further away were not sure with my dog 8m ahead of me if he was on a lead, it's now clear that he is as the yellow is easily seen. It also stops the problem I've had before with cyclist trying to ride in between us only to see the lead at the last minute. Now instead of approaching us at top speed they actually slow down early because they can see the lead. I've saw a lot of reviews saying the dog loves the lead and it's great - I don't know if my dog loves the lead, I'm sure he'd prefer not to be on one, but this lead is an excellent compromise for me wanting him on one and him wanting to run about. So this is my first review because I actually think the lead it that good it's worth coming back to write about it.

Nadat ik jarenlang Flexi riemen had opgespaard voor kleinere honden heb ik deze aangeschaft, De riem wordt gebruikt voor een 4 maanden oude labrador/Herder pup. Ik verving daarbij de 5m oude riem die erbij zat. De riem is tot heden zeer goed bevallen. De extra 3 meter geeft de pup een langere loopafstand en dat is goed zolang ik hem nog vast moet houden. De knalgele lijn is een goed idee, Het in- en uitloopgeluid is bijna niet te horen en geheel ziet er zeer sterk en mooi uit. Ik ben er erg blij mee, dit is de beste riem die ik ooit heb gehad!

Der Leinengriff ist genau richtig dimensioniert, was das Handling mit mehreren Hunden erheblich erleichtert. Diese Leine bietet nicht nur ausreichend Freiraum für meine aktiven Shiba Inu, sondern ermöglicht mir auch ein komfortables Gassigehen. Anfangs konnte ich keinerlei Mängel feststellen, und die Langlebigkeit der Leinen ist durchaus akzeptabel. Es hat sich jedoch gezeigt, dass ein Ersatzintervall von etwa 2 bis 5 Jahren angemessen ist. Im Laufe der Zeit neigen die Leinen dazu, sich zu verschleißen, besonders im Herbst und Winter, wenn sich das Band mit Wasser und Dreck vollsaugt. Ein Tipp aus meiner langjährigen Erfahrung: Das Trocknen der Leinen vor dem Kamin kann die Lebensdauer erheblich verlängern. **Hinweise zum Verschleiß:** Nach mehreren Jahren intensiver Nutzung konnte ich beobachten, dass sich das Gurtband mit der Zeit abnutzt, und der Einziehmechanismus nachlässt. Der entscheidende Punkt für einen Austausch ist erreicht, wenn das Gurtband so stark abgenutzt ist und auch noch mit Dreck und Wasser vollgesogen ist, dass es dazu führen kann, dass sich das Band aus der Spule springt und im Drehmechanismus verfängt. Dies kann zu einer Beeinträchtigung der Funktionalität führen oder im schlimmsten Fall zum Ausfall der Leine führen. In einem Fall brach sogar der Schnapper des Verschlusshakens, was jedoch glücklicherweise keine schlimmen Folgen hatte, da mein Hund zuverlässig abrufbar ist. **Preisleistungsverhältnis:** Es ist wichtig zu betonen, dass diese Verschleißerscheinungen erst nach langer Nutzungsdauer auftreten, in meinem Fall immer erst nach 2 bis 5 Jahren. Hefty and smart looking. Very well made with smooth operation and action. After 3 less expensive but unsuitable retractable leads I think this may well be the one for us giving my big dog some freedom to move on our walks. Love it.
