Croydex Soft Close Toilet Seat - Hygiene 'N' Clean Antibacterial Treated Polypropylene Seat and Universal Adjustable Hinges with Bottom Fixings Included (White, O Shape)

I bought this to replace a seat which had a broken one. The previous seat was only a few months old, from B & Q. But the poor design meant that the old seat slid all over the place, regardless of how tightly it was fastened. Inevitably, this movement caused the nylon hinge bolt (studding) to shear. I bought this seat to replace it, and hoped that its reviews and 'No 1. Best Seller' meant that it would be good. I have just fitted it and I am delighted with it! While purchasing this toilet seat I also considered buying non-slip hinge fittings ( 4 RUBBER NON SLIP TOILET SEAT HINGE FITTINGS FOR FIXING LOOSE TOILET SEATS. FOR CHROME AND BRASS HINGES ON WOODEN, RESIN, PLASTIC, MAHOGANY,WHITE, OAK & NOVELTY SEATS. ) as I didn't want to have the same problem with this seat. I'm glad that I chose not to, as they are not necessary due to the superior design of this product. I have enclosed a number of photographs to illustrate why, but in essence, the locking nut supplied is conical/chamfered on one side. This means that when the nut is tightened the nut fits securely in the ceramic hole in the body of the toilet, thus preventing any sideways movement when the nut is hand-tightened. Furthermore, the slider bracket, bolt head and recess for the slider bracket within the moulding of the seat have fine teeth, which cause the bolt and bracket to lock into position when tightened. Having fitted this and applied a fair amount of pushing and pulling, I'm very happy that the toilet seat will not slide about when in use. Furthermore, I'm confident that this won't work loose over time. The seat working loose was my only main concern when buying this, as a couple of reviews state that they are still finding that the seat is able to slide about after tightening it. With all due respect to those people, I'm struggling to see how this could happen. My only thoughts are either a) They have an earlier model of this seat? b) The lock nut has been fitted upside-down c) They have unusually large holes (in their WC pan!). You will see that the relevant photos show dimensions. On my WC pan, from the centre of the two fixing holes to the very front edge is 440mm and at the widest point the pan is 365mm wide. As you can see from one of the photos, the seat is probably 10mm too short in an ideal world (NOTE: I have slid the seat as far forwards as it will go.) but you could easily argue that the pan is 10mm too long. Width wise, the seat and WC pan are an exact match at 365mm. The photos should give you all of the detail that I would have liked prior to purchasing this seat. In summary, it is VERY comfortable, very well constructed (in a thick, durable plastic) - it does not feel cheap. It also closes quietly, but not to slowly. The attention to design on the hinges/fittings is very good. I would happily recommend this item to everyone.

The installation was very easy and straight forward to do, the seat simply attaches with a plastic screw and nut. Both the cover and the seat closes extremely slowly, as a result there is barely any noise when the seat closes. If you're wondering, the toilet lid is not very comfortable to sit on, however the actual seat is pretty good. I have noticed that after a month, there are very very slight dents in the seat, which is noticed when light reflects of it, so it does not seem to be very solid, however this is not an issue yet as the issue is barely noticeable. Overall I think I'm happy with the product as it was very cheap so can't really complain.

3 stars as they made it slightly smaller than the same on purchased 10 years ago, fitting it was considerable harder too, it fits the toilet but one can see the basin edges both front and back, incredible how such a simple thing gets bu**ered up by folk changing stuff that simply wasn't broke, it's a toilet seat, stick with the original design and more importantly do not change the dimensions for goodness sake! I was in half a mind to return it and keep using the old one but have decided to keep it, just surprised they changed the dimensions or this is a substandard one that should not have been sent out?

Good value, and the slow motion closing mechanism works well (in fact sometimes I push it down because I don't like flushing with the lid open). The installation is simple but be careful that the bolt twists around if not placed properly, the seat then comes off the bolts so it took a bit of fiddling before it was secured. I like that it's all plastic since I hated the supposedly rust free stainless steel hinges in previous seat, going rusty and disgusting looking. One drawback for me, the front edge of the seat is more rounded than the properly oval shaped units, meaning that the front rim of the toilet bowl sticks out a bit from under the seat. It's possible that this seat is a little smaller than standard or that my suite is a little larger than normal, but make sure you closely examine the shape in the picture vs the shape of the one you replace. For the small difference vs price for me, and the fact that these seats are neat and comfortable enough, I didn't think it worth sending back.

Soft off white colour and soft closing. No hassle assembling. Under the seat has curved and small bumpers, making cleaning nice and easy. And another plus is that it not being a very hard material, it will resist being cold later in the year. I've got to ask, though: which toilet has a design that requires such long plastic bolt stems? Screwing the fasteners on is just short of forever!

Very disappointed. I like Croydex for other products (hooks, toilet paper holder), but this plastic gets scratched instantly.

N'importe quoi au niveau des dimensions. Sur un site de vente par correspondance il est un peu ridicule de ne pas inscrire les bonnes. C'est une vraie perte de temps !!! La lunette ne fait que 43 cm !!!! Retour à l'expéditeur

Funziona perfetta mente. Facile da pulire, non sento da mio marito sbattere sempre la tavoletta, e non assorbe odori!! La consegna molto veloce!!
