Briwax Original Clear 400g – Multi-Shade Wood Wax Polish | Ideal for Furniture Restoration & DIY Wood Projects

Really pleased with this product. Arrived quickly and well packaged. I used it to colour some pine shelves that I had built. I chose the Walnut as I wanted a dork colour, but on opening the tin found it was very dark, almost like black boot polish. However I needn't have worried as applying it to a test piece of wood indicated that all was well. Easy to apply, I used a cloth and gave the wood two coats allowing for about an hour between applications. After each application I buffed the wood up to a sheen. The end results were nothing short of amazing, a lovely rich Walnut colour with a satin sheen that looks really good indeed. You would never guess that the wood was pine underneath! I can highly recommend this product, good price and excellent results. Just make sure you apply it in a well ventilated room, not too bad but the fumes can become quite strong after a while, so had to open windows and doors. Other than that it's a delight to use. So pleased that I chose this.

Lovely on my new oak doors- great consistency slightly less set set than their usual wax - easy to apply with a soft cloth - quite a strong but not unpleasant smell but this disperses quickly.

Always used this as its very good and simple to use, its just gotten very expensive.

It took me ages to decide on the finish for my table, I'd stripped a bright orange, pine farmhouse table and chairs. I'd painted the table legs and chairs an old white colour. The top still had orange tones after stripping x2 and a having a good sanding. I wanted the top to look dark, so I only coarse gritted the table ! I used steel wool to apply. The table now looks great, a beautiful dark contrast to the legs. I didn't buff it, as wanted a more matt look. This is my favourite wax !! I also used it to age a set of drawers which I'd painted. I think this tin of Briwax will last forever !! I love the smell. I don't think it's as potent as some other brands. I'm no expert, but I personally prefer Briwax. I have this Tudor wax, and a tin of clear Briwax. I Did use Annie Sloan soft wax at first ( my first experience of using wax ) to rub over some chalk paint, but it gave me headaches. I switched to Briwax and found it much better. The hardest part of opting for Briwax , is choosing which colour to have( unless you're just using clear ). On my course sanded, pine table top, this Tudor oak wax , has given it a beautiful rich, dark look. I can stiil see the grain, and gone was the orange residue colour from the previous orange stained varnish.

After recently buying a new 6 draw Indian mango wood coffee table I needed something to 'treat' it with. Plumped for Briwax because of reviews and it was a good price...well cheaper than most others. Never used it before. You need to be prepared to work hard at this. It took a good while, only rubbing small areas with wax at a time. The wood (well the mango wood) 'soaks' it up quickly, and I kept applying more until it seemed not to take any more and then moved on to the next area. Don't underestimate the time it will take you to do it either. Lots of surfaces on my coffee table and I also did the drawers inside and out to protect them. The final buffing (when the wax dries) takes some elbow grease and time as well and you need to rub it until there is no resistance from the wood surface..and then use a finishing cloth to make sure there aren't any streaks. But it is well worth it as the finish is superb. Transformed my new but dry looking coffee table into something quite special. A friend remarked on how amazing it looked in the front room..and the friend is a man of few words so it must look good. I think I'll do another application in a few months time; as the wood acclimatises to the new environment I suspect it will need it. Make sure you cover up any floor areas you need to protect if applying polish to an item in situ. The wax becomes 'bitty' and little lumps drop off as you use it so it is a bit messy.

This is a wonderful product to work with. Can't say how great it is to use a product that just does what it claims to and works perfectly every time. Sanded back to bare wood and applied this and its provided a lovely finish to the item. In our household, "briwaxing" has become a verb which basically means the art and enjoyment of applying Briwax. Really rewarding to provide a good finish after all the hardwork of sanding and prep. We used a Rolson wax on our table (as Wilko didn't have any Briwax in stock) and it was thoroughly disappointing in comparison. Was hard to spread and did not provide a good finish and stained easily. Briwax on the other applies evenly and the finish is solid and secure. I sound like I work for Briwax, but I'm just trying to convey what a great wax it is and how thoroughly I would recommend it. This is quite a yellowy, golden colour, if you just want to get an even finish on most wood products around the home, Medium Brown would probably be better. I think the advice goes if you're not sure which to get, Medium Brown is perfect for most finished.
