A godsend
Quite simply wouldn't have been able to breastfeed without these as my babies mouth was so small she couldn't latch to my larger breast and flat nipple. She's now a very heathly 3 month old and hasn't yet had a drop of anything other than my breastmilk all via these, we're just now at the point of weaning her away from them as she's big enough now. They are abit of a faff, particularly when you're out, getting them on and making sure baby doesn't knock it off etc. and I find baby does end up dribbling alot with them so I tuck a muslin under my breast to catch it but otherwise they're absolute lifesavers and no woman should be ashamed to use them. Thankfully my supply has never been affected but I know this isn't the case for some women.

Very helpful
It was really helpful. Got this advice from my midwife to get one. The product is really good. Didn’t know it has sizes but I got size 2 and it fits well perfectly.

Great temporary remedy to ease latching troubles from tongue-tie.
My midwife recommended I get nipple shields when baby was a week old and was identified as having a tongue tie. She couldn’t latch properly and took loads of time and effort to get enough milk. We spent all her awake time nursing which left my nipples very sore and she’d fall asleep hungry from the effort. PROS: these shields provided enough protection for my nipples to heal whist still nursing. Baby found these much easier to latch onto when she had the tongue tie. The sterilisation case is a handy feature. The nipple shields combined with catching let-down in a silicone pump to feed baby as a top-up after nursing meant that we had no problems with weight gain while we waited for her tongue-tie division procedure. However, they had some very frustrating aspects which meant that I was relieved when I didn’t need to use them anymore. CONS: They’re hard to put on effectively, especially one handed. You can kind of slap them on in a hurry but they’ll probably fall off mid feed, or may come away in baby’s mouth when they pull their head off. It’s difficult to use them discreetly and I didn’t feel comfortable feeding in public while using them. It’s yet another thing to have to remember to keep clean and next to you for feeds, so I kept one upstairs by the bed and one by my downstairs feeding spot. Also be aware that it can take weeks to wean baby off nipple shields and learn how to latch onto the nipple properly. Once my nipples were less sore, I’d regularly skip the shields and top up the feed with a bottle, so baby was used to alternating between nipple and silicone teat. I think this helped her re-learn how to nurse without using shields after the procedure. Overall, the benefits greatly outweighed the frustration as they helped my baby continue to gain weight and helped both of us continue breastfeeding while we waited for a tongue-tie division procedure.

So glad I tried these!
For me this has been a real game changer. My baby is 10 days old and has struggled with latching from the beginning. She refused to feed from the left breast and would only feed from the right after struggling to latch anywhere from around 15 mins to 1 hour and by that time she was exhausted and extremely upset and hungry. I spoke to multiple midwives and health visitors, I've also breast fed successfully before so know what the latch should feel like and how she should be latching on. Nothing I was trying or doing was helping her to latch until I found these. My baby had lost alot of weight since birth and we are having weigh-ins with health professionals regularly. Since using these I have found she latches straight away, feeds off both sides, and with the help of an expressed bottle to top her up after feeds she has started to gain weight again really well. They have totally changed my breastfeeding experience with her and she is a happier and fuller baby because of it. Would 100% recommend trying, it might not work for everyone but it has worked for us. I'm so glad I found these and gave them a go. Size 2 fits me well, I did measure my nipple to make sure this was the right size for me. I did have to you tube the official 'how to use' video to make sure I was doing it right. The instructions it comes with on the pack aren't really clear. They sterilise in their case really easily and quickly. Only cons I have are that the silicon doesn't always stick particularly well to skin surrounding nipple but given how well she is feeding now I don't mind. Sometimes baby is so hungry they just latch straight onto the nipple part because it's quite prominent and in their face. This latch does hurt so be sure to take them off, re position and get a wider, deeper latch with the shield on and then it should be much more comfortable. They are great but you still have to get the right positioning with them in order for them to be comfortable.

Really hard
Unfortunately I found these really rigid, as did baby. She was unable to latch due to this and I was left with a really sore nipple after just one use/feed. We had previously been using a boots own brand nipple shields and will be going back to these as much comfier and really soft which a more natural shape for her to latch to. These did stay in place really well though. If you're after a soft type shield which mimics a true nipple i would opt for a different type to these.

Brilliant
Great fit. Secured to the breast well with no slipping or leaking and the box makes it easy to store and carry with you. Size is important to avoid pain Highly recommend

Worked on the first try with a baby that struggled to latch for weeks. Awesome product

Aunque son perfectas mi peque no terminó de pillarles el gusto así que no puedo opinar muy en profundidad. Muy finitas y fáciles de poner aunque a mí se me caían porque el niño se movía mucho y prefería el biberón.

My baby is now 5 months old. For the past 5 months, we have been on a breastfeeding roller coaster. We saw 4 lactation consultants. Baby girl had posterior tongue tie, high palate and "small mouth". She has a frenectomy and a lot of my pain was resolved, however ... her latch improved only slightly. She continue to slip off the breast repeatedly, getting more and more frustrated at the breast... she would cry and flail and scream bloody murder. We resorted to primarily exclusive pumping with some breastfeeding (while using Medela nipple shields) prior to naps (when she wasn't ravenous and sleepy enough not to get impatient). She gets a better latch with the Medela shields but still not great at all. She gets frustrated quite a bit, kicks and turns her head... then the Medela shield is slipping all over the place. Beyond frustrating for the both of us. The Medela shields are quite thick and the perfect cone shape is still hard for her to latch onto. It's been a journey and I'm surprised I haven't given up. I'm so glad I didn't. Baby girl has always liked her MAM soothers. I've tried a million soothers and she can't keep them in her mouth longer than 5 minutes. So I saw these MAM nipple shields online and went on the hunt for a place to buy them in Canada. Couldn't find a single seller... not even on Amazon. I contacted MAM themselves, they responded with "sorry, not available in Canada"... and offered no help. I was pretty bummed out. They sell everything else in Canada, why not their shields? I even gave them my sob story and told them how their soothers was all that my baby could keep in her mouth and that I was certain the shape of their shields would be helpful. OH WELL. ANYWAYS, then I see these lovely sellers from the UK are selling these shields on Amazon now. Bought a pack of 2 for around $12-15. My baby can finally latch!! She breastfeeds for 30-45 minutes... and she's not getting frustrated and wailing! I can't stress this enough... these shields are amazing. The shape stops my baby from slipping off... the thinness of the silicone allows her to trigger let down and the shield sticks to my breast SO MUCH better... it has wide wings that allow me to also hold it down when she's resituating without getting my fingers in her way. The tip of the nipple shield get ever so slightly thicker, creating sort of a "nub" at the tip.. and I honestly find this "nub" help get to grip the nipple and not slip off like she does with bare breast and the Medela shields. If you are having breastfeeding issues, give these a try. I am 20mm in Medela shields and size 2 in MAM shields. I hope my review helps at that one other mother with breastfeeding woes. Don't give up just yet! Try these. I'm 5 months in and we're moving into exclusive breastfeeding territory. 👀 Will update if opinion changes, but we've been using these for 2 months and we haven't looked back! 🤞🏼 15/02/21 UPDATE: We’ve made it through an entire year of breastfeeding ... all thanks to these shields!! I remember LC’s telling us that “nipple shields are not a long term solution.” They were for us! Without them, we would have had to stop.

At first I thought mine was size one. Just tried to order size two in case but it fit my nipplesperfectly and it works a lot better than Linsinoh. Such a life saver since my boy doesn’t know how to suck well :( . Anyway he’s a Mam fan , bottles and nipple shield are his favorite . Other brand is a No No for him hahaha

These have been a HUGE help in our breastfeeding journey. Baby had latch issues and was only able to use mam bottles. Regular nipple shields were a no go. One day I looked these up and he latched right away! Since then we've been able to transition off of them but I keep them just in case. Highly recommend them.
