I rarely ever leave reviews but this stuff is fantastic. Having not bothered too much about aftercare on previous tattoos (bad idea), and decided to take better care of my new (currently being worked on) tattoo. Having read a lot of reviews on a lot of different products I took a chance on tattoo goo, and I'm so glad I did. Tattoo goo does a fantastic job on new work. No tightness, cracks or scabs, just a nice gradual healing with a natural dispersion of the surface as it goes. It isn't too tacky so it doesn't mess with clothes, and it even smells good! I also tried the tube of cream version of tattoo goo but for me it isn't as effective. It does go easier and spreads better but it appears to evaporate / absorb quicker and left the skin feeling tight fairly soon after applying.

After getting my recent tattoo my tattooist recommended E45 cream instead
I have always used Bepanthem for the healing of my tattoos but always found it to be messy and it did make my skin a bit red. After getting my recent tattoo my tattooist recommended E45 cream instead. I used it and for a couple of days everything seemed fine with the healing. However by the third day my surrounding skin broke out in a very red, raised and itchy rash. I went to the doctors and they were trying to give my hydrocortisone cream to clear the rash up. However, I knew I couldn't use it as it would ruin my tattoo that I had paid a fortune for. I put up with the itching and in the meantime used Double base gel which I have been getting prescribed to me. However, It felt too gentle for the remaining healing of my tattoo. I looked warily on Amazon and looked at all the reviews. I came across Tattoo Goo and noticed that it was good for sensitive skin.. The doctor told me I was probably allergic to lanolin. Big problem for me as a lot of things contain this. Tattoo Goo does not contain any lanolin so thought I would give it a dry. The salve immediately started working on any dryness, cooled and moisturised my skin without it being slimy. Brilliant stuff. I won't be using anything else except from Tattoo Goo now!!

Great product, but you might still need bepanthen
Up to now I've always used bepanthen to care for my tattoos, but under the guidance of a new artist I gave tattoo goo a go. Now to clarify, I did not use this until the third day after I got my tattoo (I used bepanthen up until that point). Be that as it may, I thought this product was very good. Lubricages nicely, doesn't stick to your clothes much, and most importantly my tattoos came through it looking great. Using bepanthen id never had considerable skin flaking and scabbing before, I did have that using this. But this isn't a bad thing as this is normal, and I think my tattoos might even look better for it. I applied this 3 times a day, however most of the time I was wearing vests (the tattoos were done on my arm). If you're going to wear clothes over your tattoo I recommend you use this a minimum of 4 times a day, as it will wear off quicker. The only knock I have on it is, while it's good for the first two weeks of healing, it did seem to heal the tattoos slower than bepanthen. On the last day or two of aftercare I used bepanthen just to kick the can over the line to speak. But I don't think this is a bad thing, because I'd rather use a dedicated tattoo product. I'd highly recommend this product, used in conjunction with a bit of bepanthen.

Does the job perfectly
I've used this for my last two tattoos and it does the job perfectly. I tend to apply more often, probably six times a day, but still only wash the tattoo three times a day. Both tattoos healed perfectly and quickly, one was a simple line design, the other more complex with lots of shading. One tin per tattoo, it doesn't last long but I do over apply. It's a waxy sort of feel and smells herbal which I love, the rosemary really stands out. When it gets cold it goes crystaly hard like wax and when warm it goes liquidy so watch how you store it mid summer.

Wouldn't use anything else
I love love love this stuff! I used this for my first large tattoo and loved it, but wanted to give the expensive popular one a go... I swifty came back to this as for a tender fresh tat, this is incredibly easy to apply and smooth out, essentially glides like an oil so there is no pulling of the skin. It smells wonderful with a delicate lavendery scent. It's soothing and protective but not smothering. My artist initially recommended just pure coconut oil to me but I found although it was nourishing, it did not moisturise my tat enough and it became scabby super fast. This helped much more with actually adding some moisture to prevent too much scabbing and helped wonderfully at the super annoying itchy phase. I absolutely would not use anything else. One pot was enough for the healing stage of my whole forearm. A little goes a long way.
