Good, fast, quiet kettle.
Good, fast, quiet kettle. Made a strange whistling noise initially, but that soon went after it had settled in (think it was the holes in the bottom that sense when it has boiled). Needs quite a few boils to remove metallic taste. Now its settled, it's a great kettle.

Cost saving kettle, will pay for itself in less than a year by heating water to 85C instead of 100C.
This is a PERFECT kettle. It will save you money as soon as you start using it and setting your boil temp. to 90C or less, it is super-quiet and boils pretty fast. Have bought one for myself and one for a family member. Really happy!

Noisy
I gave a 3 star review because we found the kettle very noisy, but have edited this because it seems quieter after a bit of use, and overall we like it. If the radio is on we can't hear it above the kettle noise. We had the previous model and this one is about the same noise level in spite of it's claims to be their quietest kettle. This is no surprise really since the heating element appears to be the same and there are only minor design changes to the kettle body. It's disappointing since we opted to buy the new version not a direct replacement in the hope it would be quieter. Living in a soft water area the previous one lasted a very long time and was generally a very sound, reliable, simple kettle, and I would expect this new version to be the same. We had problems with the lid catch of the old one and this has been improved. The lime filter looks better too. I like to fill through the spout mostly because the lid mechanism tends to fail, and irritatingly the window on the new kettle doesn't come low enough to see when you have one mug of water in. This is a minor issue since you can just judge it but its a retrograde design. I slightly prefer the cleaner design of the old version, but there's not really much difference. The main benefit is the hopefully better lid.

Best kettle I’ve ever owned.
It really is fast and quiet. The little spout filter needs cleaning regularly or the pour slows right down. If the blue light disappears (This may happen if the kettle is banged down, and not put down more gently.) just use your fingernail and ease it out from between the metal outer case and the base when the kettle is cold.

Very good product and cheap.
Very quiet; you have to stand close to hear it. It takes 52.4 seconds to boil a 250ml cup. I highly recommend it; this is my second one.

Great
Loved this kettle. Sleek, quiet and rapid boil. Bought in 2021. However now (2015) it's started leaking water. Need to buy a new one.

Just the Job
When the hinge on the lid of our 8-9 year-old copy of this kettle broke we were delighted to find the exact same model still available. This kettle has a clear fill window on both sides and an ‘on’ light that couldn’t be clearer, running right around the bottom of the kettle. It boils very quickly and extra quietly, so you still hear your radio programme while it is boiling. There are also bright red internal tabs that indicate the fill. The one drawback is that the angle of the handle makes it a bit awkward for older wrists when it is filled to beyond half of its capacity.

This is my 3rd Kettle now !
I have always had Russell Hobbs kettles as did my parents before me, but we usually bought the "traditional" shape ones. This is now my 3rd kettle of this particular model and they seem to be lasting 4 years each ! Firstly they are a good kettle, and virtually noiseless for about 8-9 months, then the noise increases, so like a good customer I bought their official 'Multi Purpose Descaler' which isn't cheap, and that cures the problem for 2 months if you are lucky, then you need to repeat the process and you only get 5 doses in each bottle, I bought 3 bottles - so basically one it starts getting noisy there is no cure, so don't waste your money on the descaler, I suppose how long the noiseless last depends on your water hardness softness too, out water is very, very slightly limey, you really don't get any limescale build up inside the kettle though as such. Regarding the lid sticking by other reviewers. this has personally never happened to us. Also the 'plastic' taste in the water, once gain we have never found that, and my only thought is that are people filling the kettle to max, boiling it, throwing the water out and repeating the operation - as stated in the instructions ? Wouldn't be the first time people haven't read the instructions, and that includes me sometimes by the way. Now for my BIG grumble and one that Russell Hobbs SHOULD address that is the on/off switch. It seems these are designed to fail, every 4 years in our case, as that has happened to both out last 2 kettles, and I feel sure it will happen to this new one too. in 4 years time I might add that the traditional Russell Hobbs kettles lasted at least 15 years, and IF you were unlucky you might need to replace the element, I and I have replaced at least 500 on the old style ones (Saturday Job), but that that was it, people loved those kettles. Right, back to my point, the on/off tab that you press down eventually fails and snaps off... why ? because it is just plastic and I suspect the heat from the bottom of the kettle also makes it fail and snap. It is absolutely impossible to repair, because it snaps of at the furthermost point, you just can't get into it and repair it safely, I have worked in electrical/electronics virtually all my life, along with a period in design so I have a lot more insight/experience into these sort of problems. This design or material choice (why not make the stem out of metal, then attach the plastic bit on the end of the stem ?) is making people throw away a perfectly usable kettle, everting else was perfectly fine on the two I binned. We are supposed to making everything sustainable and NOT throw away perfectly good electrical goods for a simple fix... Russell Hobbs please listen ! I nearly gave this 3 stars, but when it is working it is fine, the noise is a problem after a while but I can live with that, but the switch snapping off is just criminal really though, look how many customers have reported this. The big question is when (... not if) this switch fails again, will I buy another Russell Hobbs question, well no unless they address the issue. I personally have supported Russel Hobbs for 50 years now, and as I say my parents did too, but is it now time to call it a day ? We shall see in 4 years time... over to you Russell Hobbs.

Would buy again! Very quiet and heats very efficiently.

Variable temperature settings are not reliable - when setting to heat to 70 degrees, it never results in water at 70 degrees. It results in anywhere from 75 to 85, regardless of how much water is in the kettle. The variable temperature function was the primary reason I purchased the kettle, so this is very disappointing. Kettle does indeed boil quietly as advertised. Stainless body is not insulated at all, so is a burn risk.

This has been advertised as a 'quiet boil' kettle and having always had quiet boil kettles I can safely wholeheartedly say this kettle is far from quiet compared to other Russell Hobbs. Highly disappointed and deeply regretting the purchase.
