Smooth and beautiful
I am not a PS4 fanboy. I am PC master race. My graphics cards alone cost 4 of these consoles. I also have to own an Xbox. I say this so that you know when I talk about the PS4 that I am someone that appreciates graphics and smooth gameplay. And that I defiantly have more money than sense. Firstly I owned the Xbox. I was so disappointed. I have almost nothing good to say about it other than you can play with friends that have one. Which is the only reason I still have one. The PS4 I bought when a friend of mine wanted to play an exclusive game on it. And it came with a few other games. These games I had in the Xbox. I was shocked at the difference in quality of gameplay. Games seemed to both run and look better. But mostly run smoother. It just made games so much easier to play and for me more fun. I constantly hear people saying you can't tell the difference between the consoles. And maybe most people can't. But after playing both I can honestly say the PS4 is better if you value smooth gameplay and slightly better graphics. Unfortunately none of my friends have one so I'm buying online games for the Xbox and the PS4 collects dust. For the single player games this is the console for you. At this price with a game it's such good value. Everything is included with the console and it's much faster to start up and get in a game than the Xbox. The size is surprisingly small as well and I feel the build quality is better. But I'd not really include that as a reason to buy it over the Xbox Oh and the controllers are rechargeable. A nice touch

The Playstation 4 does not disappoint!
The Playstation 4 does not disappoint! First of all I’m not a Playstation fan boy, I'm not even a fan of Sony. The PC has always been my main platform for gaming and although I’ve had the PS, PS2, most of the Nintendo consoles and an XBox 360 I’ve always felt at home on the PC. But I can't fault the Playstation 4, I only really bought it to play 3 games (The Last of Us, Beyond Two Souls and Until Dawn) and also to play Blu-ray content as I was building a small collection of my all time favourite films. As a gaming machine it's great, the controller is comfy and easy to use, but what really surprised me wasn't just the gaming capability but the media centre feel to it. The ability to navigate easily through menu's to play music, watch films, Netflix and browse the Web is excellent. People say the PS3 UI was better more fluid and easier to navigate but never owning one I can't find anything wrong with the PS4's UI. The Playstation 4 is a solid gaming and media machine at a very reasonable price. I'm very happy with mine and can't find fault so far, well if I'm to nitpick I’d say they all should ship with nothing less that 1TB hard drive as 500GB is minuscule in today's gaming with each game taking up to 40-60GB of space. But honestly doesn't bother me the drive is easily upgradeable and I’m planning soon to put a 2TB drive in it.

A Gamers console with more..
I'm already a huge PlayStation fan and decided to finally upgrade when the price dropped. It was time to upgrade from the PS3 to PS4. The console design on the latest chassis is really nice, I wasn't expecting the unit to be this small. I prefer the all matt finish, the device is quiet, even with the Blu ray drive running it not too noisy. Can't seem to see any network/HD indicator status lights, I'm not sure if these have been removed. The unit comes supplied with 1 x controller, mono headphone/mic and all the necessary cables required to connect. I have played a few games and also downloaded games from the PlayStation store, graphically games and sound is great, but as always it depends on the game developer. The console is a powerful beast. Sony finally managed to put on the media features that so many PS3 owners took for granted. You can stream, and playback media from usb devices. For the social media fanatic there is so much stuff integrated, the controller is brilliant, has a headphone jack, built in speaker, touch-pad and light bar and vibration. Light bar can be dimmed but not switched off,and one of the drawbacks is that the battery life of the controller is not as good as the old PS3 dual shock controller. All in all, a great gaming console with enough media features, go buy one!

Best Console Purchase - of all time!!!
Best Purchase this year by far - was given an xbox 360 a while back, it was okay, just hated the lack of user experience and incompatabilty. Now I have taken the step over to the other side and an loving the user experience, the interface is so easy to use, everything is where it should be. The graphics far out way that of the xbox (in my opinion) and the plug and play aspect is awesome, most items plug in and just play no setup needed. My Tritton headset worked right out of the box, all manor of usb devices just work (unlike on the xbox). There is still the multiplayer subscription fee however it was inevitable sony would go down this road like microsoft. You do however get more for your buck on the sony PSN store than on the xbox live store. The model I bought was the Chasis C type, very nice Jet Black. The only gripe is the very short controller charger cable, sorted with a usb extension cable I found lying around. All round great console, small compact, very powerfull, like buying a high end gaming PC without the price tag.

Great console but... BEWARE of faulty models!!! Read this before buying.
Bought this new model since my old model stopped working. New model lasted less than 24 hours before suddenly making a loud popping sound and smoke then coming out of the back. After that the console was just dead. The worst thing is, I was playing Metal Gear at the time the console blew which resulted in the game disc being lost and me not being able to remove it because the manual eject screw has been removed from this particular model. On the phone to Amazon they were helpful and happily replaced the console free of charge. But they refused to replace the game disc because I bought that from a seperate retailer, therefore resulting in me losing my copy of Metal Gear Solid and having to fork out for another copy. Yes, I could have bought the game digitally so I could download it again later on my account, but I like the physical copies. Must be because I like that new game smell. Anyway I received the second new model the following day which has been perfect so far. It's been roughly a week with no issues and the console is as good as the previous edition. It's quieter, lighter and more energy efficient. Also the new model now has mechanical power and eject buttons instead of the old touch sensitive ones which do feel cheap and tacky but are better because you don't accidentally eject a game or power off the PS4 anymore. The rear of the console has been rearranged with some of the ports moved around, usb ports, hdmi and etc. The chipset has been revised to be more efficient and it also now uses a simpler blu ray reader. The hard drive bay has been altered. And finally the biggest noticeable change is the hard drive cover which is now a full matte black finish instead of the old shiny finish which gives the system a nicer look, personal preference speaking there though. The software is still the same as previously so no change there. The 3.0 update coming soon should make it better, but the PS4 is still missing many fan requested features and key functionalities that even the PS3 had years ago. Hopefully Sony can change some things eventually. Overall, a great console but still lacking in games and in time that will change. It's worth buying but yes beware because there are some faulty models about. Should be ok though because I more than likely just received a dodgy one and Amazon will replace it anyway. For those reasons it gets 4 stars from me. Thanks for reading and have a good one.

Review is for the non-pro version
If you're looking for a PS4 then chances are you've already decided to buy one. It's a fantastic console and I'm in love with the controller, so much more comfortable than my XBOX One controller (personal preference obviously). As you've probably already got your mind made up, I'll just leave a few tips here. 1. Create a few PSN accounts for various countries. Sometimes, a demo or deal will be released which is region specific, and it's nearly always the case that that region ISN'T the UK. As such, having a Japanese or American PSN account comes in handy more often than you'd think. 2. If you want to play a game on Friday, launch it on Wednesday. Seriously, nothing winds me up more about modern gaming than the massive installs and day 1 patches that we need to play a game. If there's something you want to play, launch it before you want to play it so that installs and patches all get done in advance. 3. ONLY BUY FROM PSN STORE DURING SALES. This is probably a no-brainer, but the PSN store is almost always the most expensive place to buy games. Get a physical copy off Amazon and I reckon you'll probably save at least £10 per game on average. So there you go, great console with some great exclusives and a fantastic controller. Win!

New July 2015 model CUH-1216
Most people looking at this are probably wondering what the "C Chassis" in the product name means. It means this is the new (July 2015) model, CUH-1216. Mine arrived today (bought direct, sold by Amazon) and I can confirm it is the new model. It's a bit lighter, quieter and more energy efficient than the initial models, doesn't have the shiny black hard drive cover (this one is just regular matte black) and it has actual push buttons for on/off and eject. You are unlikely to notice any actual in game performance differences but the machine might be a bit more reliable given Sony have had 2 years to tweak different parts so if that's a concern, and it usually is with the first iterations of a new console generation, then go for this over the older models. Of course, only time can tell on that front. As for the PS4 platform as a whole it's great. The new controller is a huge improvement, the games are sure to be great although I feel developers are only just really starting to push beyond what could be achieved in the PS3.
