No more annoying noise from wind...
I was amazed at how the microphones on my Tascam DR-40X could discern the smallest amount of wind noise and then amplify it seemingly way beyond the sounds that I was trying to capture. Pop one of these wind shields over the end and all was solved - immediately. It's a good fit, although it's very close to the headphone socket on the Tascam and it's better if you use a right-angle connector into the socket as that lets the wind shield slide down a bit further. Thus far, I've been impressed, and for a resonable price this has just got the job done and lets me get on with the more difficult job of capturing those ambient sounds. Handling noise still needs to be dealt with, but that's easily done with a decent tripod and the Manfrotto one even double as a handle. With the recorder mounted on one of those, and with the wind shield on, I can scare passing motorists when they think I'm pointing a speed camera at them, rather than collecting samples for Autobahn 2020. Oh yes, and the box is definitely worth keeping as it says that it's a "Dead Kitten".

My favourite dead kitten.
First off, this comes in a box that is marked "Dead kitten". I've taken immense pleasure in showing everyone the box and take comfort in the fact that if I ever have a small dead feline, the box can serve a dual purpose. Secondly, more importantly to its performance - this is a good windshield. I recently set up a Zoom H4n recording in a small divot on a beach to record a wedding ceremony and it did a brilliant job. It fits on the H4n like a glove and is also nice and cuddly. If you have a Zoom H4n, this is a no-brainer.

Good stuff
I'm using it with my Zoom H4N. After three recordings I have to say it works brilliantly for indoor use. I've done a test shot outside in moderate wind with good results as well, but can't comment on that just yet. However, it reduced any breathing sounds I was experiencing with my narrations before and so it works perfectly for me. The quality appears to be very good, it's well made and very fluffy!

Better for the H4n than for the H5 or H6
Excellent materials and construction. Very good wind protection too. Only criticism is that because the Zoom H5 and H6 now use interchangeable microphone modules which have the gain control mounted on the module, the Movo windshield partially covers this gain control if fitted snugly. This wouldn't have been a problem with the Zoom H4n. Maybe a re-design to accommodate Zoom's newer recorders is now required to turn this good product into an excellent product - hence the 4stars rather than 5. But I would still recommend this even for the H5/H6 as it's far superior to the windshield supplied by Zoom with the H5 and H6.

No brainer
This is a substantial dead cat that significantly improved the recording quality on the Zoom H4N Pro that I purchased. It is made of a really good quality rubber surround, a thick mat of a skinned cat (probably) and an open structure inside such that sound is not impeded in any way. Testing it both outdoors and indoors showed a significant and audible difference. Less hiss indoors, no wind noise outdoors. Highly recommended to make the most of your Zoom.

Does the job
Fits my Zoom H4n Pro perfectly and does an excellent job of blocking out wind noise (e.g. I like to record by the sea). Combine this with low-pass filters on the Zoom. And it's nice and furry like a very much alive kitten ;-)

Works on Zoom H2 (original) too
I bought this for my Zoom H2 after trying a Rycote furry wind thing and finding that it didnt reduce wind noise nearly as much as I had hoped. This does a noticeably better job but sometimes wind noise gets through - I think if the fur was longer it would be better, this fur is shorter than I was expecting. When you pull it down fully over the H2, the rubber seal does a good job but the screen does get hidden - this doesnt matter too much for me but might for you.

Secondo me funziona alla grande all'aperto.

Klare kaufempfehlung :)

..it replaces the foam windscreen that I lost and is under $20, whereas the foam replacement is $12 - for a piece of foam? I LIKE it because it looks professional, cuts out the 'Ps' and 'Bs' and moderate wind noise, and attaches easily enough. Unlike other mics I own, where the furry windscreen covers the already attached foam windscreen, this one does not. However, the fit is questionable as to whether it will, at some point (itself) make noise if shook. Just a thin piece of the foam/rubber slips over the mic heads to hold it on; whereas, the foam holds firm against the mics themselves with no wiggle room. We'll see how this works out in time. The rubber does collect hairs and dust, etc. So that's something to consider. It is large on the H4N, like the foam (but larger) so some may prefer something slightly smaller (if it exists) But I'm happy with this purchase and look forward to testing it some more in stronger wind conditions.
