I have been using Gold Standard Whey for almost 10 years now, and the extreme milk chocolate flavour is definitely one of my favourites. It has a really good chocolate taste, kind of like chocolate milk and I’ve always found this brand trustworthy, so I’ve stuck with it. While it’s not my main protein these days, I still enjoy having it every once in a while. Each scoop has 120 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 3 grams of carbs (1 gram fibre, 2 grams sugar), and 24 grams of protein. The macronutrient profile is solid, and it’s made up of a blend of proteins, including whey protein isolate, whey protein concentrate, and whey peptides. Mixing it up is easy, and it smells great as soon as you open it, a nice chocolate aroma without being too sweet or overpowering. It’s smooth and has a good texture, and I like the chocolate flavour intensity, it’s got just the right balance, not too strong or weak. I’d call it the Goldilocks of chocolate flavours, if you will. On a scale of 1 to 10 I’d give this flavour an 8.5 out of 10. If you’re looking for a tasty, reliable chocolate protein, I’d definitely recommend trying the extreme milk Chocolate flavour. So I am not a super gym freak but I wanted to get healthier over all, so I opted for some additional supplements to help me on my journey. One of these supplements was Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard 100% WHEY (Extreme Milk Chocolate) I was not only relying on this for my protein intake, real food was also consumed. So I would have 3 meals and 3 shakes a day. After about a week are so I did lose some weight and gain some muscle. It wasn’t a massive improvement but a good start in my eyes. Since then, due to injury, I have not been back to gym but I do still take this supplement occasionally in the week as a quick meal. I like the taste and the nice thing for me is that the protein mixes well in both water and milk. Packaging: Well packaged, comes in a tub. I have seen other in the reviews saying that the seal had been broken when trying to open it. I have bought at least 6 tubs in the last 12 months and never had this happened to me. Product: The flavour I ordered is extreme milk chocolate, I really like the taste and it mixes well. I have used it with water, almond milk and 2% milk all mixed well and tasted great. I find that its not really down to the powders not mixing proper but some people don't use good quality mixers. Pros: *Tastes great *Mixes well *Free scoop in every tub *Good quality protein *Versatile for what you need it for *Packaged well Cons: I haven't had any as of yet. I still have a tub in the kitchen, that I now just use with my meal replacements. Conclusion: If you are looking for a good trusted brand this is a good choice in my opinion. I have used other protein brands in the past but this was the right one for me and I will continue using it. I would definitely recommend this product, whether you are going to gym, playing sports, or just wanting to add additional protein boost to your diet.

I've dropped a star as subsequent orders have yielded significant batch variation. My last batch was difficult to mix satisfactorily. The two main things of importance with whey protein supplements for me are; ease of mixing and flavour. This whey protein gives 24g of protein per drink and mixes in seconds most of the time. I got chocolate flavour which was lovely and easy to drink. I recommend, but with reservations regarding mixing.

This protein tastes great, mixes well and doesn't leave you feeling too bloated - pretty much all the basic requirements beyond the obvious. I bought the milk chocolate, and whilst it isn't the same as eating a chocolate bar it tastes good. I use milk and a shaker bottle for my protein powder, and with a few seconds of shaking you'll get a good smooth consistency, no horrible lumps or chalky aftertaste which you sometimes get with cheaper protein powders. In terms of calorie delivery it provides everything you need, high protein and low carbs. When assessing protein powders it's always difficult to judge the quality of the protein itself, but from a 'feel' point of view I'm more than happy with the Gold Standard Whey. The price per kg is very competitive, the delivery was quick and the product was undamaged when it arrived. I would recommend this to anyone looking to gain muscle or on a high protein diet.
