I waited a while before writing this review, as I wanted to make sure that it was long lasting and durable. I love the ease of set up, operation, and the constant display of the current temperature. We will see how durable it is this winter. It is such a great price, I will get another one to take some of the strain of this one this winter. Update: This is my third of these. The first was a test. It worked great. So I ordered another since a different brand heater burned out. Then I purchased this one for another tank. All are running now. I expect they will give me years of good service. I like the current temp, set temp, and wattage display. Very good design.

-TL;DR- Stop searching, buy Hygger, be happy. - These heaters are robust enough to keep my Golden Butterfly Koi pond a balmy 70°F all through the winter; even during extended drops as low as -10°F ambient air temp! I can walk outside with 6" of snow on the ground, and there's my pond, looking like a steamy, little oasis, with very happy, active koi swimming around. I have always been very pleased with the premium design and materials used in their products. For the first time ever, I can comment on the customer service they provide. I have purchased 3 of these 1000W heaters, among other things, from Hygger. I've only ever had an issue one time, and that was recently when one heater stopped working, for no apparent reason. I contacted Hygger via email and they responded so quickly, that I was shocked. After some troubleshooting attempts it was decided that the heater had malfunctioned. It may not have even been due to poor craftsmanship, it could have been a random power surge or whatever. Heck, sometimes stuff just breaks. Regardless, the customer care team immediately jumped into action and here I am, less than a week later with a brand new replacement heater. That's what I call amazing service. Thank you, Hygger. I have used a wide variety of Hygger brand products over the years, from indoor fish tanks, to outdoor koi ponds; I don't even bother searching beyond Hygger, and I recommend them to everyone I know.

Best heater, just stop searching, this is the one. No headache, accuracy, great technology. Got mine about an year ago to fight ick and works perfectly! Im here to buy a bigger one since I upgraded my tank.

Heater works as a heater, but it’s the most annoying heater. Bought this for my 100 gallon reef tank, and put it in my 20 gallon sump so it’s out of sight. The problem I’m having is, every 10 minutes or so when it turns on to maintain temp it makes a very loud BEEEEP sound. This is extremely annoying as my bed is about 6 feet away from the reef tank… I foresee a lot of sleepless nights in my future until I can replace with another brand that isn’t programmed to scream every time it turns on.

It works like any aquarium heater but is way more powerful as it is a 1kW heater (for an outdoor pond). What I like is the readout that says the temperature, easy 1 button setup, readout shows wattage, auto-shutoff if taken out of the water, and the heater adjusts output based on surrounding temp. Cons - the casing for readout is flimsy, not sure how long it will last before I start getting error readings and have a useless heater, wish it was bigger (had more surface area). UPDATE: after a few months of use I have encountered some issues. The casing enwraps the tubes too much so that heats build up quickly inside and the device reached set temp quickly. It then shuts off. Also as the device gets close to the desired temp it reduces the wattage output. All this would be great in an enclosed, housed inside, aquarium but does not bode well for a pond that has a large surface area. They need to keep the thermostat away from the heating tubes so the device has a better idea of the surrounding water temp. There is another hygger that has a more open casing and that one allows for more water to heating tube exposure. The temp controller had to be placed in another casing to prevent moisture/water damage.

The best tank heater ever bought

This is an amazing heater, super easy to use and very accurate with its digital screen. This product unfortunately did stop working for me after a year of use. I did reach out to Hygger and after a couple of back-and-forth emails Hygger did send me a replacement. The customer support was amazing and they stand behind their product. I will continue to buy other Hygger heaters as I set up new aquariums. Thank you Hygger team

Old glass tube heater in my 250G centrarchid/cichlid tank started leaking (one of two), so I replaced them both with the 1000W unit. The armored casing design was why I bought this heater. My fish are large and they get bumpy sometimes… they’ve smashed tube heaters before. This unit is definitely smash-proof, and doesn’t struggle at all keeping my 250G a constant 79F in a room with average an air temp around 68-70F. It was a decent value, and I trust the Hygger name from last good experiences with their aquarium equipment. 10/10… I definitely recommend this heater if you have big fish that rock out on your appliances and decor.
