Brilliant wooden toy
Toddler is obsessed with this. I didn't think they would enjoy it as much as they have - do get it!

My 18 month old loves this
My 18 month old toddler loves this toy! It’s very durable and challenges him enough that he can get some enjoyment out of it but difficult enough for him to grow into a bit more. My only concern is that the corners are very sharp and the slide out lid can be a bit of a hazard so you may need to supervise boisterous toddlers during use

My little one LOVES this toy! It keeps her busy while also helping with her motor skills and shape recognition. Solid wood, safe, and colourful. You can’t go wrong with Melissa & Doug. A timeless toy!

Safety is a concern for this toy
I thought this would be really great for our baby. The complexity is just right for 7-8 months old who can grab objects confidently. However, I have concerns about the safety. The baby wants to chew (naturally that's what they do!) on the wooden blocks which are hard. Sometimes she would start throwing or hitting the block against own body and again it proves to be very hard ending in a cry. Also all external edges are smoothed into curved shape but not the lid. The lid has all sharp angles and the first thing our girl did was actually taking off a lid and almost piercing her eye hitting above on the eyebrow. I thought she would cut it open as the corners are really hard and pointy. Not good.

I was a bit put off reading all the reviews on here, but I'm glad I made the purchase. I have found this product to be very neatly made, good quality - no paint rubbing off, no wood chipping off, no sharp edges, no rough sides. Its beautifully made, the shapes fit the slots very well and the fact that there are so many, just makes the fun last longer. My 2yr old is in love with it, he has been playing with it all day today and he has decided to take it to bed too, its keeping him company while he sleeps. He has been loving sliding shapes into the box or even just dropping them in emptying out the box all over again. he knows his basic shapes, so this has provided him with new vocabulary and a lot more shapes to learn. I'm going to take this on a 14hr flight with us, hoping it'll keep him engaged for sometime. Love how it looks and its pretty sturdy too.

Very solid construction and every part is real wood. The balls, no matter which one you hit, all come out of one opening. My 3.5 year old took a liking to it for a few hours and loved whacking at the balls, then watching them clip-clop down the stairs. The balls are held in place by some plastic bumpers, and with a few swift swings the balls drop. I wish there was a hanger or something to keep the hammer attached because right after my daughter year old played with it, the hammer disappeared along her interest. I would recommend attaching some Velcro to keep the hammer attached after playing. I originally bought it for my newborn to have when she gets older, but I couldn't keep her sister away from it. I know it'll be a big hit when she gets to the right age.
