PROS AT A GLANCE: Looks amazing, heavy plush fabric, seemingly durable construction, adjustable hood closure (drawstring), large hood size (surprisingly hard to find and THE main selling point for me!), optional face-guard offers additional warmth/protection. CONS AT A GLANCE: Not waterproof. It does run on the roomy side (one size fits all), which is a huge plus to me, but some people might not like that the extra room means the face guard isn't going to be snug against your face, depending on your individual size. MY SELECTED ITEM: Black FULL REVIEW: I've been browsing balaclavas forever and could never really decide on which one to take because I am incredibly picky and rather vain, when it comes down to it. I didn't want just a complete ski-mask style because, although they're very warm and offer full protection, they aren't quite so versatile when you're walking around in town and have to transition to looking presentable for work. Among other balaclavas closer to this style, the hoods were too tight-fitting around the head, which is not a look that I particularly like. With the Oldelf balaclava, you can have it be close-fitting like that if you like by tightening the drawstring, or you can have the option of leaving the drawstring loose and having a nice, big, roomy hood, which is my usual style preference. It's nice knowing I can go from my style preference to the warmer option easily if needed, without having the warmer (less stylish) option being my only choice. Being a female and not having a giant noggin, I can say that yes, the face guard is a bit loose to allow for different sizes to wear it. I personally don't mind this, and actually prefer it since it looks better (for me) and because when I walk to work when it's storming, I need to be able to then transition to my day job look without a problem, and this means not having all of my face makeup rubbed off by a tight-fitting ski mask or balaclava. I know this isn't going to be the same concern for most people, but for me, those are really huge selling points. Over all, I couldn't be happier with this purchase and will be coming back to buy one for my partner, as well (he has a huge head, so the big hood will be especially nice for him). We live in the Pacific Northwest about 30 minutes from the Canadian border, and while we don't always get huge snowfall here, when we do get a good snow, it's usually a doozy. Even when it's not snowing, our temperatures in the winter drop very low, so something that is versatile and stylish like this is exactly what we need for those bitter cold days. I don't personally mind that this isn't waterproof, since I'd be wearing different gear in a heavy rain anyway, but I figured I should point that out in case someone is looking for a balaclava that can withstand all weather conditions. This will definitely keep you warm and cozy in the winter wind and snow, but it's not going to keep you dry in a rainy downpour.

Good product. It handles cold but not under 30. Make sure the mask is pulled up. You need to tighten the laces really good to avoid air up however it covers a bit your view. Overall a good product.

This Balacava is warm & comfortable. I may have to order another one so I have a back-up.

It's warm, and the fabric is comfortable, and as a hood it is quite effective. The mask portion is alright, though it doesn't have any way to pull it snug to your face. Ultimately, the mask is just too big. The neck area of the mask bulks up around the neck, and is difficult to tuck into your coat. Also, when the hood is down but the mask is up, nothing covers the ears. Trying to get the mask to cover your ears with the hood down is very uncomfortable.

Didn't know these were called balaclavas, all I knew was I needed something better than a hat, scarf, and ear muffs with all the cold winters we have been having. All those things took time to put on, were bulky and drafty. When I saw this it was what I really needed. This is a smooth fleece, the seams are well done, no loose threads or pulls. There was a slight chemical smell that is in all polyester, it came out once I ran it through the washing machine and dryer with some Wisk and dryer sheets. It came out without shrinking or seams opening, always a good thing. It isnt a super thick or heavy fleece, it is lightweight. Come the cold and wind, this holds in the heat from your body and breath, keeps your head, face, and ears, protected. The hood has a long "collar" that tucks well into a closed jacket. And the hood is very roomy, I tried it on with my hair up and down and this will still keep my hair somewhat presentable when I go to work. That may sound like a small thing, but it isnt. It is snug around the head when putting it on, but once it is on it is roomy and comfortably snug where needed. The face cover can be tucked down below the chin or pulled just about all the way up to cover the face. Drawstrings help keep it closed around the neck. I received this at a small discount in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, this is going to be great for the winters we have been having. Not bulky, easy to put on, will protect from the elements. That is what I needed and am very happy with the balaclava.
