Works great, what you expect for wireless
Connected great with ILX-507. Is it annoying to have to touch or spin it when you start your car? Yes. But the tradeoff would be burning the battery out every couple weeks. Worthy trade off... plus then you would have people complaining that it chews the battery or died while driving. Plus the head unit now asks if you want to reconnect the knob as it noticed it didn't connect. Just spin the knob and tap yes and it resyncs without having to go into the device connection options like others have reported. For what it is, yes its worth it. Value wise - expensive. Probably a $25-$30 part. I'm not knocking a star though because it fixes the no volume knob issue and frankly I love being able to easily reach this. It controls volume and subwoofer volume seamlessly. My only real complaint... wish knob wasn't chrome due to sunshine/reflections at some angles. Be nice to have other color options but suppose I could fix that if I really wanted to with some stick on vinyl overlay or something. Or maybe even a knob swap out - haven't tried seeing if you can pull the knob right off but it might be possible.

Push or turn it before starting car and it syncs every time.
This knob works great love it. Just installed with ILX507. Give the knob a quick twist or push it then fire up you car it syncs every time. If you forget you have to go to settings, devices and hit connect, not a big deal. Jus hit it before starting car then it is automatically synced like I phone and wireless CarPlay. You can push it down and turn it coontrols subs then let it up and adjust volume. Great having a knob again. Went 17 years without in my last Alpine head unit. The knob rocks!

100% absolutely useless
I know you'll see mixed reviews and think "oh maybe it's not bad." Well, it is.It doesn't even reconnect half of the time. I knew it needs touching to connect and that was an issue raised in reviews. BUT IT DOESN'T RECONNECT EVEN WHEN YOU USE IT THE "RIGHT" WAY.In fact, it's worse than that. My screen prompts me to reconnect it and it doesn't reconnect. So now I've got a useless prompt and it's not even clear what triggers it when I start the car. To be fair, most of the time it doesn't prompt - it just doesn't connect anyhow! The whole point of a knob is to turn down the volume quickly when you accidentally leave the volume too dang loud.If there's latency connecting, and it's unreliable, what's the point? So I can go around swooping my volume up and down for funsies?Yeah, it's fun, when it works. But not FUNctional. They sold this, knowing it would be useless. It works just enough to sell an overpriced knob.Shame, shame, shame, shame.

Change the battery!
Had all kinds of connectivity issues with this thing - Swapped the battery for a fresh one and it has been working much better. Make sure you press the thing before you start your car, it will not pair automatically!

Price/ convenience of use
Super fast delivery, as well as packaging! Nicely done. Super easy to pair up with an Alpine head unit, and so convenient to use as it is remote from the head unit. The rotary encoder seems good to turn, has a positive click. Very recommended for someone with a compatible head unit. The internet has a of the info to assist with matching this up to said head units. Kudos 👌

Overpriced. Have to connect each time.
No battery, No instructions, box looks like it has been used and repacked. I tried it anyway and found it has to be manually connected EVERY. TIME. This is not worth the price at all. Once it's connected it does work well, but I'm not interested in a startup procedure. Returned.
