Surprisingly nice!
I actually couldn't be happier with this knife. Not only is it razor sharp, it is beautiful, very well balanced, and has a very comfortable Full Tang handle. It feels very satisfying in your hand. The bolsters are so far in a Ford that is great with a pinch grip. It satisfying to hold and use. Keep in mind that this is a core metal surrounded by softer metals, that a certain YouTuber has actually broken one of these knives in half to verify that they are indeed layered Damascus style layers and it is not etched. That doesn't mean that this layered steel is high quality is a higher a knife, but it is real. The steel on the side it's not as strong as the core metal, which is probably a good thing because the softer metal it's easier to maintain and likely less prone to rust and corrosion. I can't vouch for the longevity, but for the price, I really couldn't be happier. Beware, this is a very hard steel, and is prone to chipping. This is not intended to cut into hard items like bone or even frozen items. This is true with any knife that has a hardness of 60 or above, even at the high end. You also never want to put this in the dishwasher or leave it in the sink. This type of Steel needs to be cleaned and dried off after each use. If something happens to change my mind I will update review. As it stands I like it so much I ordered several of the knives it have been equally as satisfied.

Cuts Effortlessly and Feels Like a Premium Knife
I’ve been using the SHAN ZU 8-inch Chef Knife for a few weeks now, and it has quickly become the knife I reach for the most in my kitchen. The first thing I noticed was how balanced it feels in the hand. It’s not too heavy, not too light, and it has that solid, confident feel you want from a good chef knife. The blade itself is extremely sharp right out of the box. It cuts through vegetables, chicken, herbs, and even tougher ingredients with almost no effort. The Damascus pattern looks beautiful in person, and the finish makes it feel like a higher-end knife than what I paid for. What stood out to me is how cleanly it slices without crushing food. Things like tomatoes and onions come out with smooth, clean cuts, which makes prep faster and much more enjoyable. I’ve used it for everything from chopping vegetables to breaking down larger cuts of meat, and it hasn’t dulled noticeably yet. The handle is comfortable even during longer prep sessions, and I never feel like it’s slipping or awkward to hold. It also cleans up easily, and I’ve had no issues with staining or rusting. Overall, this knife performs way above its price point. It feels premium, looks great, and handles pretty much every task I throw at it. If you’re looking for a reliable, sharp, and well-balanced chef knife without spending a fortune, this one is absolutely worth picking up.

Worth the money
This is a great knife well worth the cost. Sharp, well balanced, good weight/feel in the hand. I like it better than my Henkel knife.

High quality,low price
Very sharp out of the box, held its edge for general kitchen use so far, quiet heavy, but balanced, comfortable handles, very clean effortless cuts on tomatoes, easily dices onions, cubing beef for caseroles, casseroles, chopping carrots, that's been the basic use thus far, I have not cleaned it in a dishwasher only hand washed so far so can't say how that would if at all effect the knife, would reccomend, certainly for the average home cook anyway.

Nice for slicing
Nice and sharp. I have small to medium size hands and wanted to use this as a pareing knife, but the way the way the blade meets the handle is a little uncomfortable to use for an extended time. Works great for slicing though. Had for over a year and still very sharp

Impressive knife for the price. You won't be disappointed.
Good quality knife. Real damascus blade, holds an edge very well. Asthetically beautiful. The only negative is that the blade is welded to the tang, it is not one solid piece of damascus. That being said i don't plan to use the knife as a pry bar so the tang won't be an issue for me.

These knives cut like a dream and are great addition to our kitchen.
My Nakiri knife was the first I have ordered from SHAN ZU and it quickly became my favorite knife to cook with. After a month I decided that we needed their full knife set to replace our 10yr old set. Got the 16 piece set and love it... sharp and durable. Here comes my side opinion on some of the reviews where people are just not too smart. I have read of people giving like 1 star or whatever because they order one of these other 'extra' blades and complain that there is no place to put it in the block. - Come on... 16 blade block was DESIGNED.... you guessed it... for 16 blades that come with the 'kit'. Anyhow... this is where I laugh at folks that expect everything to be just 'a given'.... NOPE. Try thinking outside of the block. I have 2 extra knives and just used a simple trick to put them on the block. MAGNETS ! Yup... so simple and works great with the block. Got this knife on one side, and the new cleaver on other side. If you didn't know better, this would appear to be how it was meant to be. Works perfect for us and magnets do not scratch the knife when you pull them off, and the way I put them on, you are not going to get cut unless you are careless. (one reviewer complained that most people don't store knives in boxes and was worried that his wife would cut herself if it was in a drawer) Anyhow... you can find the Super Strong Neodymium Disc Magnets for $10. Do NOT use the weak adhesive discs that come with them, will fall off in a week or less. I used 16 pack, 3M VHB 5952 Foam Tape, Double-Sided Heavy Duty Mounting Tape for $6 and they have stayed put for over a year. - Also.. use 2 per blade, knifes are beefy and just one magnet will let the blade bow to gravity's will. Hope this all helps... love these knives and with good care, they will last a real long time. Oh yeah... last thing, when you get one or more of these, hold it blade up and then drop a piece of paper down on it. You will be happy to see what happens. (No it won't cut the entire paper, but half way works for me on an out of box knife)
