The base itself is very solid and is an ideal retrofit. Once an old chair's base is broken, anything that keeps these mostly plastic chairs from reaching the landfill soon is good. But this is a better fit, as it's a broader base with stable rubberised wheels. The polish might wear off over time, but that remains to be seen. In its competition, it's the best option and good value for money.

Product was delivered with flimsy packing with the center portion fully damaged - even there were dents on the wheel legs - the wheels used are fully plastic even the wheel center is actually plastic coated in silver in and looks very flimsy - not a product to be even tried

Being used as the Base of an Apex Chair. As regards 'Sturdiness', no immediate comment is possible at this point of time !
