It was a great gift to my nephew. He loved it.

This was a favorite of my almost 5 year old son. He loves insects or all kinds and arachnids. We were not sure what to expect so important stuff to know: * There is a scorpion painted on the dirt/sand piece you get, this is not an actual scorpion. * If your kids are a little more eager to dig faster they will not destroy a specimen. * I put the block we were digging on a small cookie sheet (jelly roll pan - it has about 1 inch lip around it). This was perfect for containing our mess. * The specimens are real and are enclosed in a clear acrylic like a small rock. Each bug is in its own clear rock. * Specimens are small but you get a magnifying glass with this as well as the digging tool and brush. * Specimens are excellent quality, the size of them is great because my son can easily put these in his pocket and take with him to show his friends when we are out. He is ready to dig another one and I am going to see if I can find one with different specimens for variety but truthfully he would be just as happy with the exact same ones. He loved this! I did too!

My son loved it! Although the specimens were a bit smaller than expected, that didn't stop my kid from thoroughly enjoying it.

My 3 year old son and I loved doing this activity together. This kit comes with a magnifying glass, plastic digger, a brush, and 3 bugs hidden in a plaster like mold. The bugs themselves are encased in a hard, clear resin. This activity took us about half an hour to do. My son got tired of digging so we took turns, one person digging and the other brushing away the dust. I highly recommend doing this in a place that is easy to clean or you don't mind it getting dirty. This makes a pretty big mess. We did ours outside. The bugs are a good quality. They are bright and look great in the resin. It would be cool if they were bigger, but I understand why they are not. The only thing I didn't like was that all our bugs were found in the same spot. One chunk of dirt popped out and there were 3 bugs underneath. We loved this so much that I bought some for my son to give at birthday parties. I also bought some of the other kits as well. I purchased this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

What you receive is a 3x3 piece of plaster shaped like a shark. I have bought many of these excavation kits. My kid loves these things. He did get some cool shark teeth from this product but, they were all in the same spot. Once he "found" one, the others were literally directly below it. So, I believe the price point is a bit high for what it is. Update: I contacted the company and they basically overnighted a new kit to me. My kid tried again and it was a lot better this time so, maybe the first one was a bad quality one off? Anyway, I have upgraded the rating because there simply aren't enough companies out there who care enough about their customers experience with their products. Blue marble is awesome. I will purchase their products again and you should as well.

Good product wish Fidel’s were slightly bigger

My 6 year old daughter was gifted this for Christmas and with being snowed in for a week, we decided to finally bust it open and check it out. She absolutely loved it and cherished her “bugs” she excavated herself! It kept her occupied for a good hour, which you moms know is a god sent when something needs to get done! She had the best time digging and brushing to find her critters. I do recommend dunking it in water for a minute to loosen it up a bit. But 10/10 would buy again. She loved it!

Ich muss sagen, das Set wurde spitze fotografisch in Szene gesetzt. Obwohl man genug Größenvergleiche anstellen kann, kommt einem das auf den Bildern größer vor. Beim Auspacken war ich wahnsinnig enttäuscht. Selbst die Gipsfigur, in welchem die Insekten "ausgegraben" werden , wirkt geradezu winzig. Darüber hinaus sind die Insekten in billiges Plastik eingegossen, aus diesem Grund hat Junior eine Figur total zerkratzt. Nichts destotrotz 5 Sterne. Denn zum Preis von ca. 12 Euro incl. versand darf ich auch keinen 20 cm Skorpion erwarten, wie das einige Negativrezensenten wohl tun, und darüber hinaus ist unser Sohn glücklich und hatte viel Spaß. Die Insekten will er sogar zum nächsten Kindergartenspielzeugtag mit in die Kita nehmen.

My niece loved this kit, the tools take some time to get into the specimens so it's good if you want it to take longer or you can help to get them faster. The specimens are pretty neat to look at and perfect for little hands to carry around. We did it outside so the mess wasn't an issue, but we did have to clean dust off ourselves. She loved the goggles and kept them for dress up when she wants to be a "worker-man".

My son lived doing this so much when wmhe was younger, about six, that he wanted another kit to do again aged ten. My daughter now wants one too. Easy to use and the specimens inside are good quality and robust enough to not being easily damaged during the 'dig'. Fun activity with treasures to keep at the end. Good value for the time it takes to do and not too messy we just laid out some newspaper underneath. Material is plaster so doesn't stain or anything and it's quite pleasant to touch.

Received my order in only a few days after placing my order. This is a gift for our little grandson for Xmas. It looks really interesting, I am sure he will love it,
