High-Quality and Versatile Gelatin Powder
This beef gelatin powder works wonderfully as a natural thickening and gelling agent. It dissolves smoothly in warm liquids and sets firmly without clumps or residue. I like that it’s unflavored, so it blends easily into both sweet and savory recipes, great for gummies, desserts, or homemade broths. It’s also a good source of protein and adds a nice boost to smoothies or coffee. The one-pound bag lasts a long time and stays fresh if stored properly. A dependable, high-quality gelatin that performs consistently in all kinds of recipes.

Good quality at a decent price
I wanted a gelatin powder to help supplement my joints. Beef is best, and this brand appeared to have the best value. I wasn't disappointed, as the quality is very good, too. Now the problem is, at the time of this writing, its not available! Maybe in the future. Lol.

satisfied
Mixes easily in cold water without clumping (unlike some other brands). Fully dissolves in very slightly lukewarm water (100 F or half cup in the microwave for 20 seconds). Produces a light brown liquid with minimal beefy taste and smell.

NICELY DONE GELATIN WITH MANY USES
This is great gelatin for mixing with beverages and soups and stews. Also makes great desserts and super duper marshmallows. Easy to mix in broth for a rich drink anytime.

Beef Gelatin Comparisons
If you are wondering which kind of beef gelatin to get here are the comparisons after 3 years of buying beef gelatin. We bought beef gelatin back when it came in the 5lb bag and liked it. Then when we needed more we couldn't find it so we ordered the Great Lakes Beef Gelatin that comes in a can - both the regular (red can) and hydrolysate (easy to mix - green can). Then we found Now Foods beef gelatin which some are saying is the same as what used to come in the bag. I'm not so sure about that. We sometimes like to make very firm gello with juices or coconut and sometimes like it in a drink or coffee. Here are the differences: >The original bagged had to be heated and dissolved well but you could make it firm or not depending on your mixing ratio. Not good for mixing in drinks. >The Great Lake Hydrolysate (green can) is great for mixing with cold or hot drinks as it dissolves easily and quickly so this is good if you need it daily for joint care. >The Great Lakes beef gelatin in the red can makes great firm jello and dissolves a little easier than the bagged stuff we used to get when heating for jello. This is important because if you heat on too high of a temperature, simmering or boiling will greatly decrease the flavors and quality of the juice. Great Lakes in the can disolves better when heating on low for great jello BUT it is not good for mixing with drinks and coffee. >NOW Foods beef gelatin (the kind this review is for and pictured above) is a good all around gelatin for making jello or mixing with drinks and coffee so you do not need to have two kinds of gelatin around. The only draw back is we couldn't make our super firm jello we like without having to add lots and lots of the gelatin in the juice and then if you add too much it will not completely dissolve. For most people who like normal jello this is not a problem and it makes great light to medium firmness jello. All these beef gelatins had a good taste far superior to the knox crap in the store which I remember tasted nasty. I do not eat pork anymore and find the beef gelatin to be much better in every way to the pork gelatin so even if you do eat pork I recommend trying beef gelatin. If you need firm gelatin for gummy bears or stiff jello get the Great Lakes in the red can. If you want it as a supplement for drinking get the Great Lakes hydrolysate in the green can and if you want one good for most uses get this NOW Foods beef gelatin. If I could give 4.5 stars I would but have to dock it because we like super firm. OK, I'm done.

Works for what I use it for.
I actually use this to make my own spray hair gel. Works great for my naturally curly hair. My stylist asked what I use to get defined frizz free curls: 2 cups boiling water, 1 teaspoon NOW Foods Beef Gelatin Powder, a few drops of essential oils, place in a spray bottle & refrigerate. Works better than any product I have ever tried. I have also use this to make beef broth gummies for my dog.

Useful supplement for cats
I bought this as a nutritional suppement for my cats. One of them came to me as a former stray with a long-standing Tritrichomonas infestation; he had lost a lot tof weight, and failed to regain it many months after the the Tritrichomonas was dealt with. When nothing else my vet recommended worked to put weight on him, I decided I was willing to try any promising home/alternative remedy that was 1) easy and inexpensive to obtain; 2) easy to administer, and 3) posed no risk to the cat (even if it failed to help). I was also willing to give it a minimum of 90 days to show some sort of effect--I knew it would take time, and wasn't looking for overnight results. I started dosing him on August 7, and as of today (September 29), I can report that the cat has gained a small but significant amount of weight, his coat condition has improved, and he's more energetic than he was before. Unfortunately, I didn't think to weigh him at the start of this experiment, but he definitely feels less bony when I pet him. He is still very underweight, but it's been less than two months since we started, and for the first time I feel like we're getting somewhere! While I was at it, I decided to give gelatin to the rest of the resident feline horde to see if it made any difference for them. So far, the most dramatic difference has been in a tough-guy ex-tomcat whose coat was always dull; it is now soft and shiny. I've also seen some coat improvements in the other cats. Since gelatin is known to be a useful joint supplement, I imagine I'll just keep using it. It's easy to administer--for each cat, I mix 1/2 t. powder in 3/4 can of wet food, and add a little bit of warm water to loosen it up. They get fed this twice a day, and that's all there is to it. (I have no recommendations for how to use it with dry food, however, as I don't feed my cats kibble.) I have ten cats (yeah, I know), and it looks like a 4-lb jar is going to last me about 90 days. I've only consumed a little of it myself, but I'm very happy with the quality of this product--it has no unpleasant odors or flavors (which I've experienced with Knox in the past). It's doing what I need it to do, and the big jar is economical. I'll update if there are any major changes, but so far, so good.
