Lightweight and easy to transport in the supplied "perforated" carry bag. Comes with usb cord and charging cable. The charging cable requires a shaver adapter if you decide to charge the radio from the Mains supply. Easy to charge using a usb cable. FM stations are auto-tuned and automatically stored in the preset facility, whilst to store DAB stations, you have to manually scan the DAB band, select the station of your choice and then save the station in the preset facility. It has a built in alarm where you can wake to a buzzer or preset radio station. The alarm can be set for just one day or a series of dates/days in the future. It also features a countdown timer that automatically shuts the radio off after a predetermined period of time. Ot has a two line LED scrolling message screen that informs you of he station that is currently being listened to, date and time, song name and artist and other band related information. The sound is very good for such a small radio. There is no individual control for the treble or bass. It's very handy to be able to recharge it. Although the marketing blurb indicates a battery life of 16 hours between charges, this is very much reduced if you keep it on standby. It comes with wired earphones, has a telescopic aerial and I can "find" around 98 DAB stations and 14 FM stations. So far I'm very happy with it. When looking to purchase a portable DAB radio I initially wanted to purchase a Roberts small hand held radio - it was £49.99. You can purchase two of these Awai radios for that sum of money. After my original purchase I purchased another 4. Two for members of my family (who are pleased with them) and two are for Christmas presents. I'm also about to order another one for my friends 75 birthday next week. I'm sure that he'll appreciate it. There are other models available having Bluetooth streaming in them, for around £5-£10 more, but this small Awai is pretty good if you don't require Bluetooth streaming. With Christmas just over 3 months away, I'm considering purchasing another 3 or 4 of them to give to friends of mine.

The packaging and accessories were great; I wish the same could be said for the radio. Alas, I probably received a faulty model or experienced a Q&A failure from AIWA: when powered on after being left completely off overnight (not in standby mode), there was no sound coming from the radio (not even through the headphone output), so I had to perform a 'factory reset' almost every day. The radio is going back to Amazon now. By the way, be aware that the headphone output is MONO, not stereo!

Quality speaker, very good on DAB, great on FM.

My radio Aiwa RD 40 has a broken start button . Very difficult to send back under guarentee . Any ideas please how to get it mended?mike moore

Het toestel ziet er zeer degelijk uit en klinkt vrij goed. Positief is ook de usb-c connector. Het is ook vrij intuïtief bedienbaar. Maar ik geef slechts drie sterren omdat DAB+ bij uitstek een heel goede stereoweergave heeft en het toestel ook aan de koptelefoonuitgang slechts een MONO-signaal beschikbaar is. Nergens wordt dit vermeld. Integendeel, op deze pagina lees je de volgende tekst: "Hoofdtelefoon met 3,5 mm stereo stekker met hoogwaardige metalen behuizing," De hoofdtelefoon "stekker" kan dan wel stereo zijn, maar daar houdt het dan ook bij op. Althans, op het toestel wat ik bezit. Jammer.
