Giron Powdered Purple Yam - Ube, 115g (4 oz), 3 Pack

This powder is an essential ingredient for my ube cupcake recipe that everyone loves. Even when I soak the powder in hot milk for 15 minutes before making the batter, I still found that I could taste chunks in the cupcakes so now I immersion blend the soaked ube - milk mixture & that works out well.

I used this in an ube tapioca pudding and ube log cake. It retains the natural color nicely and mixes easily.

Bought it for my wife. She said it's ok.

This product is lighter in color than other ube powders I've used. There is no list of ingredients so I suspect this is ube powder mixed with something else. It might be OK to bake with, but for making ube milk tea, it's awful: thick, grainy, chalky, with very little flavor. DON'T BUY IT!! You have been warned.

I bought this, but not through Amazon. The powder is grainy, as others have reviewed. HOWEVER, the proper method of preparation with get it smooth. You either have to cook it while stirring occasionally for 30-45 minutes or use a hand blender as it cooks. Most people reviewing this negatively do not how to use it properly. It is indeed not full of flavor. Needs to be sweetened and ube extract helps it along. I use ube flavored condensed milk.
