nice little radio and cassete player & recorder...
My husband told me about the Walkman radio and cassette player he had as a teenager. This Tomashi brand cassette player looks just like it and works the same way. it takes 2 AA batteries or you can plug it in to a 5V USB cord. The USB type A cord turns into a smaller plug to power the radio and it's unusual in that the USB power is 5 volts and the plug says 13.3 volts. However it works with the standard USB cord, which provides 5 volts - perhaps the plug changes the voltage??? There are no rechargeable batteries here, so if you want portability, you need alkaline AA batteries. While modern mp3 players are smaller, this classic size is the same as my husband remembers, and it weighs less than ½ pound. The radio (AM, FM) works and has a foldout antenna for a better signal. You can listen to it with headphones if you want. You can not only play cassette tapes; you can record with the built-in microphone. Now we can play all those music cassettes again, just like we used to. it's a classic and i like it. i give it 5 stars. i hope this review is helpful. Sabiene :)

Tomashi "walkman" cassette player
Package had been squashed so the door was sprung half open, wouldn't open or close, it came in an Amazon envelope and delivered by USPS. Being advertised as a walkman there's no way to attach an armband. Looks like a nice unit except for being broken, being home bound and can't get out returning it is not an option.

I'm pleased with this cassette/AM/FM radio with battery and USB-A connector.
This little Tomashi cassette player/tape recorder/ FM/AM radio with its built-in speaker and microphone can link you to your family's past through cassettes recorded long ago. It's also an AM-FM Radio with battery power (2 AA batteries, not included); USB-A power cord; accepts 4.5V AC power adapter (not included). It has a telescopic antenna for improved radio reception and a cassette player-recorder equipped with an automatic "stop" system to protect the tape as well. There's also an earphone jack, with built-in speaker and a 3.5mm earphone jack and microphone jack. The AA battery and the USB-A power supplies help bridge the gap between the world of cassette players and the world of MP3 players. And this little device spans these worlds in other ways as well, as It also seves as a cassette to MP3 converter. For improved sound quality it supports an external microphone through its 3.5mm auxiliary port. In case of a serious emergency, this device can also connect with the radio news and sports broadcasts through its AM-FM tuners. I admit that the built-in speakers leave "something to be desired", but they do work adequately for their intended purpose. And after all, you're getting all of this in a little 5" x 3.58" x 1.42" device weighing only 0.44 lbs.

Started off Good
It was working great at first. But only after a few weeks it started playing everything just a little slower than normal. Tried what I could to figure out what caused it, no luck. It never left my desk, no accidents either. Kind of bummed out considering the price and seemingly hardy build

Just what I was looking for!
I was looking for a cassette player to play an old cassette my mom had when I was a baby 30 years ago. My mom wanted to play the cassette for my baby. This is exactly what I was looking for. It plays the music clearly, the volume is great, it rewinds, goes forward, has play and stop buttons, and the ability to record as well. The small size is also super great! We did notice we have to hit stop button after it finishes rewinding, as the rewind button doesn't seem to pop up after its done. Not sure what would happen if it didn't pop up, but to be safe we just hit the stop button. Everything has worked great so far and my baby and mother are enjoying the tunes and nostalgia.

Takes me back!
I got this for my 13 year old who is obsessed with "old tech". Of course, upon opening and using it, I found an old friend! This is straightforwardly the same type of portable cassette tape player I was using 30 years ago. Simple, easy to use. We got out an old tape I've held onto these last 30 years, played it no problem. Got out a new blank tape, recorded onto it, no problem. The kid had heard that you can stick an aux cord in the mic slot and record from your phone or computer onto the tape, we tried it, and sure enough! That's not a trick I knew back in the day. The radio is clear on both the built in speaker and headphones. I put rechargeable batteries in it and it's working great. I'll update this review if it craps out on us, but so far so good!
